Tis the night before Christmas, and not a sound in the barn.
The cats are all purring, curled up with their yarn.
The goats are all sleeping, cuddled up to stay warm,
The ducks are puddled up in a sweet little swarm.
When all of a sudden arose such a clatter!
The dogs started to bark, the cows yell, "What is the matter?"
Up in the hayloft, with a flap and feathers a-flurry,
Down came an owl, in a panic and hurry!
"He's here! He's here! The man in the coat!
The one who brings treats! Bones, carrots and oats!"
With a "Ho Ho Ho", the man did appear,
The treats were dispersed to every hen, pig, and steer!
All the animals were happy, their bellies were full.
"Goodnight," said the jolly man. "Goodnight," said the bull.
Away he did dash, as fast as he could,
"Proof," said the lamb, "that some men are good."
An original take for you all, from an animal lover.
