"Tis the night before Christmas," and a soft snow was falling over the quiet forest.
There lived a little pine tree named Pip. Pip was the smallest tree in the forest. He watched the big trees around him get chosen by happy families and taken to warm, bright houses.
"I wish I could be a Christmas tree," Pip whispered to a snowflake.
On Christmas Eve morning, a little girl named Lily came walking through the snow with her father.
"Look, Dad!" Lily pointed. "He's perfect because he's small, just right for our little apartment!"
Lily and her father gently dug Pip up and took him home.
That evening, Pip wasn't cold or lonely anymore. He stood tall in the middle of a warm room, decorated with bright red ornaments and a shiny star on top. There were presents underneath his branches.
Pip smelled the sweet smell of cookies and watched Lily open her gifts. He realized his wish had come true. He was the happiest Christmas tree in the world, and he brought joy to his new family.
