Tis the night before Christmas... and the snow fell so bright,
The stars twinkled softly, a magical sight.
The stockings hung gently by the fireplace warm,
While outside the window, there brewed a soft storm.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of presents danced in their heads.
When suddenly downstairs, there came such a sound
A jingling of bells as something touched ground!
Little Emma crept slowly down the old creaky stair,
And spotted a figure with white flowing hair.
"Santa!" she whispered, her eyes open wide,
He turned with a smile, no reason to hide.
"Young one," he chuckled, "you've caught me it seems,
But go back to sleep, and dream sweetest dreams.
For Christmas isn't just presents and cheer
It's love, hope, and kindness you share through the year."
He placed down her gift and flew up the flue,
Calling out softly, "Merry Christmas to you!"
And Emma learned something that cold winter's night:
