The night before Christmas, I watched the snowflakes dance and fall outside my window, feeling a sense of calm inside me. The streetlights cast their glow on the snow-covered roads, and everything was silent. The warmth inside the house felt a bit slower, as if time itself was taking its time to move. My family and I were in the kitchen, preparing dinner; my mom was kneading the traditional Christmas cookies, and my dad hummed an old Christmas song. My little brother couldn't stop taking photos of everything, saying, "We’re never going to forget this moment." Amid the laughter, the power suddenly went out, and we sat around the table in the dark, illuminated only by the flashlight. The silence felt like the entire world was revolving around us. Shortly after, we lit some candles, and one by one, we started singing Christmas carols in the soft glow. Outside, on the eve of the New Year, the air was cold, but our hearts were warm. That night, it felt like we were completely isolated from the rest of the world, as if we only had each other.
