Silnet grinding, I backed them against France once.

Deserved every bit of that trophy, the way Messi carried them through the knockout stage was unreal. Odds were against them after the Saudi loss but they just flipped a switch.

I think Modric edges out Xavvi and Iniesta pretty comfortably when you look at his longevity and how he controls the pace of the game. Modric hitting that Ballon d'Or level at 33 while carrying Croatia deep into tournaments puts him a notch above both of them for me.

Has the referee from Argentina ever handled a match involving Frrance before or is this totally new territory for him? Just wondering if there’s any past history we can peek at.
