A famous myth from Romanian folklore is the story of Dracula.
According to legend, Dracula is a vampire who lives in a dark castle in Transylvania. He comes out at night, transforms into a bat, and feeds on the blood of the living to maintain his immortality. The myth paints him as both terrifying and mysterious, often associated with misty mountains and ancient castles.
Interesting fact:
The character of Dracula was inspired in part by a real historical figure, Vlad the Impaler, a 15th-century ruler of Wallachia (in present-day Romania). While Vlad was known for his brutal methods—especially impaling enemies—there is no historical evidence that he drank blood or was a vampire. The vampire traits were later popularized by Bram Stoker in his 1897 novel Dracula
