Mazda3 Posted July 13, 2018 #1 Posted July 13, 2018 Bitcoin Core developer Jameson Lopp launched an open source repository that documented cases of physical abuse of bitcoin owners. The list became a generalization of the activities of both criminal elements and law enforcement agencies. The list is available on GitHub (https://github.com/jlopp/physical-bitcoin-attacks/blob/master/README.md) and currently talks about 28 different incidents that occurred since December 2014, from the day when the special forces stormed into the house of Hal Finney in Santa Barbara. The list also includes incidents that occurred all over the world, including cases of extortion of crypto-currency under the threat of death, theft from bitcoin-ATMs and equipment for mining. As noted by Jameson Lopp, whose home in North Carolina last October was virtually stormed by the US intelligence services, 23 of these incidents were related to physical violence, 10 of them occurred in the last six months. And only in one case the victim of criminals could successfully defend themselves. It's about the localBitcoins trader Ryan Rice from Miami, who was trying to rob during the sale of bitcoins. The last documented case of a robbery attempt was recorded on July 6 in Northboro, Massachusetts, when armed robbers broke into the house of another localBitcoins trader, Austin Nedved. Under the threat of physical violence, he was forced to pay in cash, but managed to convince the attackers that at the moment he does not have bitcoins.
