Lillyflow Posted July 18, 2018 #1 Posted July 18, 2018 There are many times when I feel a tiny bit of a superstitious twinge haunting me in the back of my mind. As I click and I click and I win some and lose more some.... it always crosses my mind that I have a "worn out" account. LOL ! I know this is 100 % silly. I also think alt accounts in secrecy are lame. I don't know but I can't help but wonder if there is any truth to the beginner's luck phenomenon. What do you guys and girls think? Do you do better with a fresh start? Is it for social reasons or is it for mathematical reasons? Is it easier to win when less friends are around to recognize you by your username ? Or is it an IP address / aged account thing ? Or are we all truly equals and as time passes the thrill simply changes? What is it ... Lucky noobs. lol For the record, I absolutely know that Stake is "fair" in all the ways expected from a gaming control board point of view. I trust the Stake team.
wry Posted July 18, 2018 #2 Posted July 18, 2018 Beginner's luck, in my view, is a great example of selection bias. If we do something and are successful at it (regardless of luck or skill) we are more likely to keep doing it. So if you were lucky and successful you'll keep going. Since this is gambling and you will eventually lose it looks like beginner's luck - you were lucky early and then your luck stopped. Conversely, if you have a horrible experience early you'll stop and so wont view it as beginner's luck just something that sucks (since another bias will keep you from blaming yourself!). You could do an experiment and make 100 accounts and play 1000 games (or however long you expect beginner's luck to last) on dice on them for a small amount, you should have slightly more losers than winners. Of course, if I was a disciple of Lady Luck I would tell you that's not true beginner's luck, it's still YOU despite the number of accounts you have, but then your question is more about accounts rather than the fist time you've tried or played something. This is not to say that if you enjoy making new accounts or playing on new accounts to help stop thinking about your losses on your old account that you should not do so, the point is to have fun, but there is no beginner's luck out there looking out for us as we try novel things, I wish there was.
williamshennie9 Posted July 18, 2018 #3 Posted July 18, 2018 I don't believe in beginners luck. I do believe that beginners tend to place more risky bets as they are still new to the platform and that may cause them to hit a high multiplier. I also think it has to do with the person. By nature, I am conservative with gambling and my money in general. Hence, I have never experienced beginners luck. However, I have friends who won large amounts of money because they wagered on games with high multipliers. It all depends on the personality of the person and their appetite to go big to go home
athena2007 Posted July 18, 2018 #4 Posted July 18, 2018 in the dice game i belive there is alot of luck as if u put it down to skill i think ... what skill u press the mouse longer..lol. we all have the same chances to win,, at any given time alts acccounts or change seed .. whatever u want.. it doesnt help.. when it want to give u it will.. ok i confused myself too...

kflyer Posted July 18, 2018 #6 Posted July 18, 2018 I personally think that beginner luck is just got to do with probability. Than again, I can't deny that most beginner gamblers i met are usually lucky.
Kate Posted July 18, 2018 #7 Posted July 18, 2018 I never think that there is beginners luck but I do believe in normal luck and the person who has gambled before since he can use some strategies sometimes in some games he good in.
OsmaNN Posted February 22, 2019 #8 Posted February 22, 2019 yes I believe that beginners are lucky I've witnessed this many times before a new member of the site has won a $ 1000 jackpot and only played 2 times
polor12 Posted February 22, 2019 #9 Posted February 22, 2019 there's no such thing as luck..only a word invented to be blame on by crazy events that were good or bad that happened to a person...is not a physical attribute that a person has or an ability of some sort...it was not your day everyone will have them.... the more you believe in "Luck" the more is relied on everyday unexpected events...well some people still believes in the bible...can't judge on person beliefs..
Alexandre Posted February 22, 2019 #10 Posted February 22, 2019 Yes, I do believe in the luck of a beginner, but I also have strategies
KiXxnTRiXx Posted February 23, 2019 #11 Posted February 23, 2019 I tend to not believe in beginners luck, but since it does happen, either playing the game for the first time or playing on a site for the first time, i seem to win in those beginners time period.. maybe its setup that way in order to bait you to keep playing hahaha.. thats also a posibility!.. cause after winning as a newbie, after a certain time frame, nothing but losses.. sucks but ya.. maybe it does exist or perhaps its a conspiracy to bait!..
ceastem Posted February 23, 2019 #12 Posted February 23, 2019 Beginner's luck is kinda real i suppose. I observed some occasions where this occurs, mostly in sports or other games, and Especially in gambling. Most people tend to win in gambling at first. This gives the urge to gamble more and in the end lose so much more. I knew some of my relatives that fell prey to this incidence and ended up losing their life savings as a result. Beginner's luck in gambling is quite dangerous if you ask me, although not unless you can stop when you win for the first few times or be disciplined enough to gamble responsibly. but creating a new alt account for a fresh start seems pretty stupid to me. I believe it is quite the same as changing seeds so it practically just wasted your time and effort.

My first time gambling was a major success on slot machines. It was most definitely beginners luck
FotisNt Posted February 23, 2019 #14 Posted February 23, 2019 Well, I don't really believe that while when I first started to place bet on stake, I was mostly getting red ones. So far, I've make good profits just by playing and I'm still making. There might be a case that casinos tries to addict you by letting you win at the first days tho.
