Not sure I understand the forum referral affiliate/program/link use

I was trying to figure it out on my own but wasn't able to find the right resources,                           
My can you please direct me to the correct documentation or perhaps explain it here in a nutshell?                      
                                                                                              
Lets say i refer someone to forum, once they make pay per post posts, do I get a % of that as commission or something?
Im not sure i understand what is the benifit of using my specific affiliate forum link when telling friends about the forum.

I guess only how much they gamble you get percentage of that
