banned from stake poker for no reason, asked to complete L4. Joke site

Winning on poker and playing for months with no issues. Banned out of the blue from stake poker for no reason "your account has been blocked by the administrator". Didn't break any rules whatsoever. Fully level 2 verified.

Support says I now need to verify level 4 fully to play poker, including redoing level 2 with selfie. No explanation given as to why I was banned or why I need to verify. Of course, I can play anything else on the website just fine but not poker. Obviously they want me to keep playing on non-poker games because they make more money off it. Just absurd they can get away with BS like this. What a joke.

I'm being kicked off stake on 1st January for refusing to do level 2 verification, but this makes my issues fade into insignificance.

Going by past performance, you are probably the 1st of what will become the new norm.  The thin end of the wedge.

This is very strange behaviour from a platform that swore that KYC would never EVER be introduced, then changed their minds and swore it would NEVER be anything other than voluntary.

Even more strange for a platform that isn't regulated and KYC isn't applicable unless you're in UK or USA !

What country are you playing from ?

KYC is mandatory on every online gambling site... you can't even withdraw if you are not fully verified... so that shouldn't be a problem, but on STAKE they allow you to play and withdraw anyways...until that point in time where they have to make some change (then some paranoid like ist something detrimental to them🤔
