An Unintended Consequence Of Discord "Exclusive Membership" Criteria

This topic is inspired by this thread started by @Philip74 but I think deserves an entire topic of its own.

A few people have mentioned that they don't understand the motive behind the multiple server joining as a criteria to become elligible for the status of "Exclusive" in the Stake server. I think there is either the notion that with our names showing STAKE in the front of it  - it will act as advertisement milage or there is some type of incentivized deal to increase memberships of certain discord servers. Or both.  It is a clever method to increase the awareness of the Stake.com brand- however it has some unintended consequences too. oops-1432954_1920.thumb.png.d51f27c7f38dbe7c0074423da320ed1a.png

For example, one of the many servers  I was sent to join immediately renamed me from "Stake.com LillyFlow" to "Stupid Doo-doo brain" and told me to fuck off. ⚔️  Of course, I immediately asked why my name was altered to such a silly and insulting one, and the guys who admin the server were immediately shocked that I was talking at all. They thought I was a bot!  They thought I was not a real person at all. They assumed that the flood of Stake.com users in their fairly small server was some type of ad bot situation and thus- decided to prank us.

Well, I melted the ice quickly and they let me have my dignified name back. Now I have made new friends - but has anyone run into a similar issue?

Also- I was booted from a server probably for the same reason, and I was no longer "exclusive" at Stake server.  So I had to redo the whole criteria list again - and I am starting to feel like a cheap tool in the profitable life of the great and mighty @Edward.

Undoubtedly a clever campaign but ... without any compensation, a crowded lottery drawing for 2 bucks that I have not ever won is a very cheap ad tool for the beneficiary.

Just wondered if anyone else sees what I see...

💡💡 💡@Edward side note: I can think of a handful of highly effective marketing methods that would draw swarms of players.  Compensation and cost are not as economical as the 2 bucks for 150-200 stake.com users flooding servers, but my ideas would attract actual spenders, I think.  I know a very talented marketing girl who happens to be a great writer too. It is me. I am talking about myself. Just throwing it out there.  For a very modest increase in the budget, my ideas for campaigns you would get you a lot.

I have forwarded this to Edward.  He doesn't check forum tags due to everyone abusing them.

Thank you so much!  😃 Is that what the cartoon is on your signature?  I thought it was zombies, but now I wonder if its the Stake forum users chasing after you or Edward with the @ summons. 😄

Dear @Lillyflow ,

In similar fashion to your post, kindly allow me an honest opinion without taking offence.

I am relating to you as an esteemed member of this community who is able to communicate good ideas in a rather tactful way. More importantly, the nature of your post above allows me to believe you are someone who can/will appreciate constructive criticism.

I have no doubts that your marketing methods may be very effective for Stake. However, if you are advertising yourself as a marketing personnel (whom is adept in writing) to a potential hirer, I would highly suggest proof-reading of all public communication - especially so in an article post like the above where your seemingly-poor command of the English language has you looking very unconvincing, with a slight tinge of cringe.

P.S. I have underlined glaring areas above whereby sentence structure/spelling seems to have gone out the window... With the absence of careful writing, even infallible marketing strategies will come across as mediocre at best.

@nuuuitsjdragon I had a snarky reply to your critique until I realized that you are right. The minor errors are not so small when considering they have been placed in the very sentence in which I declare my expertise on the subject of writing. 😝 I fixed those, in the original, in red, just to show it as a correction.

I do appreciate the reasoning in your reply, @nuuuitsjdragon although I want to point out a couple of things, just for the hell of it.  This is a conversation after all.  You portray a hint of pleasure in knocking me down a notch - it is palpable in a way that cannot be mistaken. It is a strange type of joy that I don't share or comprehend completely- because I do not enjoy booing at the person on a stage- no matter the size of the stage or audience.  It is sort of mean. Luckily I have been scrutinized and jabbed at and torn to pieces from the wolves of crypto circles around the globe so I can withstand the frigid winds of this type of antagonism. It is part of life.

I am not offended, but you should know that your method of delivering the criticism is politely concealed between what I imagine to be chuckles of delight, I say this is an endearing way, not in a combative way. Consider it my reply critique for you.

You have also misunderstood my purpose for the post.  I am not applying for a job, because I am an established, professional writer now. Most people who know me already have me bookmarked or at least they have seen samples of my work - because plenty of it exists. I was being more playful about my "sales pitch" because frankly, I do not think I need to sell what is already sold.

The question is not of my ability to effectively swing and hit a home run for the Stake.com team. The question is whether or not they want to spend the amount it costs to do business with me. I know they can afford me, however, I don't know that they need to spend as much as I require for a contract that goes beyond a few articles or blogs.  *Side note- I always work with at least one editor, as part of the cost of my services. Little mistakes like the ones you found are caught on the first read through usually.

Again, the post was not intended to be a formal request of any type. The choppy phrasing and casual use of language is a style of modern comedy.  Read my post again while imagining the voice and personality of Mindy Kaling From The Office and The Mindy Project.  It might become more charming when you look at it from this angle.

Thank you for your input, and I hope you also thank me for my reply.

I think you nailed it.  Based on your experience it seems to me that many of the discord accounts are bots and so the "tool" may very quickly be on the other foot to the disappointment of all but the bot owners.

I expect that if Stake continues with this promotion they will do more to weed out paying the bots but then if the only point is to have Stake in front of usernames maybe they are okay with the bots.

Good Luck @Lillyflow!

I just found out that in a discord server if you invite people you get btc i am not saying eddie is doing it but that seems weird
