yeah giphy straight up doesn't work anymore, just drop the gif as an attachment or link it from imgur

I tried posting my favorite dancing cat gif last week and it sat loading forever so i just gave up lol. Now i just screenshot the best frame and upload that instead, way easier and still gets a laugh out of people.

Sometimes I just convert the gif into a short looping video and drpo the mp4 instead, it tends to load faster than using the built in gif button anyway.

Honestly I don't even bother with the gif button anymore, just find it clunky. A well timed static image can land way harder if you pick the right frame.
