Kargai Posted September 5, 2018 #1 Posted September 5, 2018 ShapeShift will require all users to create accounts and pass KYC/AML checks before they can use the platform, which traditionally has not required an account or identity check. I'm sharing this because on Stake (and Primedice) we have the Shapeshift available to exchange between cryptos, so it can be an issue for those who are using it. The program is called "ShapeShift Membership" and is actually optionnal but will be soon required for everyone. To let people swallow the pill easier they claim there is some benefits to the membership : "higher trading limits, rewards on trading volume, better pricing, private market and trade data, and early access to new coins, products and services." But like the membership is not really an option since you'll be force to register to it ... it's kind of taking their customer for donkeys and just put a carrot in front of their eyes. Source : https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2018/09/05/shapeshift-cryptocurrency-exchange-kyc/ The only great point for Shapeshift was the fact that you could exchange coins without creating an account on the exchange, until there you could use it withtout even creating an account or sending any informations. They ruined it so ... it left them with nothing special.
xtinepink Posted September 5, 2018 #2 Posted September 5, 2018 I think that there are many companies are already implementing the kyc/aml maybe because the company is also following some rules with Sec. I once used Shapeshift and I think its indeed necessary to have an account where in you could log into to keep track of all the transactions that you had.
Kate Posted September 5, 2018 #3 Posted September 5, 2018 Ok making the account was fine but KYC ? seriously ? Thats bad
jualid Posted September 5, 2018 #4 Posted September 5, 2018 It's time to say goodbye to shapeshift then, open/create an account is fine but must pass KYC too? No.
