In an interview with CNBC, J. Christopher Giancarlo, head of the Commodity and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and a longtime supporter of cryptocurrencies, said he believes that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are by no means a temporary phenomenon.
I'm not sure that they will ever compete with the US dollar or other major world currencies, but there are so many countries where there is a huge demand for functional currencies ...
There are 140 countries in the world, each of which has its own currency. Two thirds of these national fiat currencies are not worth the paper on which they are printed. I think bitcoin can solve these problems.

I think he's right, a stable non inflationary or low inflationary currency could help a large number of countries.  There's actually no reason it can't help the USA as well! 😀
