Mazda3 Posted October 8, 2018 #1 Posted October 8, 2018 Recently it became known about failures within the largest social network in the world. Because of the bug, the data of some users were at risk. At least 50 million users worldwide have been affected. However, as reported, although the bug was serious, it was quickly eliminated, and some users had to log in to the social network. It was alleged that user data suffered, the cases of theft of accounts was not confirmed. But some time passed and the data of just those 50 million users around the world went on sale. And they are sold to each user separately; Price varies by country of residence and importance of information. The Facebook team insisted that there was no leakage, but this fact suggests otherwise. However, this may be some kind of fraudulent ploy. But it is not excluded that the user data was really compromised. It is possible that attackers are even aware of account passwords. But some experts argue that sellers of such information have a high reputation on the resources where such information is sold. And there is almost no doubt that they have information for all 50 million users and you can completely buy information about correspondence, etc. Unfortunately, to calculate the villains - the task is almost very heavy. They sell it all anonymously and in darknet (the confidential segment of the Internet). This leak may be followed by a scandal, but, most likely, it will be connected not with the social network Facebook itself, but with cryptocurrencies. After all, criminals accept Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash for payment data for a user. A source: https://en.bitnovosti.com/2018/10/07/personal-data-stolen-from-50-million-facebook-users-leaked-to-darknet/
mrEnglish Posted October 8, 2018 #2 Posted October 8, 2018 Before I used to use Facebook as main of social network, now I no longer believe in it, there are many bad news, RIP facebook
williamshennie9 Posted October 8, 2018 #3 Posted October 8, 2018 They also sell leaked credit card details of millions of users (who aren't even aware that their details have been leaked) on the dark web. It is a very scary place
napolitano Posted October 8, 2018 #4 Posted October 8, 2018 I have not used that social network for years... this encourages me to think twice before putting some personal information in social networks
Pandarian Posted October 8, 2018 #5 Posted October 8, 2018 Is there anyway We could check whether our personal data is leaked?
