i tried painting a dog once and it ended up lookin like a furry potato so now i just stick to doodling in margins.

i once spent 4 hours trying to paint a bowl of fruit and my cat jumped up and waked across the whole canvas, ended up being my most complimented piece somehow lol

The mask piece really caught my eye, there's something about the way the shadows fall around the eyes that makes it feel like it's staring right back at you, super eerie in a good way lol. I can never get that depth right without overworking it to death

Thanks everyone. To answer your questions. I prefer to paint with acrylic paints. I mix it with a liquid called gac 900 if I'm painting on clothing like jackets.

I started drawing when I was young with pencils. Everyone starts with stick figures. And my first paintings 8 years ago looked like children's work. It just takes practice and not being afraid to fail and learn something.

 

An artwork is never really done. It just gets to a point where your comfortable walking away from it to start something new. Every new piece teaches you things and reminds you why you stopped doing something some way or another. Don't judge yourself from the process or the finished product because it's all energy you can use on the next project.

I tried painting a portrait of my cat once and she refused to sit still the entire time, so the final piece ended up looking like a fluffy blur with ears.
