Moderator FilipTa Posted October 15, 2025 Moderator #1 Posted October 15, 2025 Before bedtime, when the house went quiet, someone always had a story - a dark one. These are the tales that crawled into our dreams and never really left. I hope you have some that you remember...🕯️ 🪦🪦🧟🪦🧟♂️🧟♀️🧟♂️🪦🧟🪦 MilicaRa, StefanTl, daffyducky and 3 others 2 1 1 1 1
spaceoddtiddy Posted October 15, 2025 #2 Posted October 15, 2025 A few I remember from my childhood, my mother used to warn me not to hang clothes outside at night because, according to her, the ghosts might wear them and wander around the house, hahahaha. She’d also tell me not to keep my hair open or wear perfume after dark, since that’s what supposedly attracted spirits and would turn me into a chudail. These more like superstitions but they often got to me during my teenage years, but never stopped me though from doing those things anyway hahahah. brucewyne, StefanTl, FilipTa and 2 others 1 2 2

I’ve learned about the Chudail now - a vengeful, beautiful woman who lures her victims and drains their life force, blood, or virility, causing them to wither and age rapidly. Btw, Chudail usually attacks men... that’s why you’re here. 😈 spaceoddtiddy 1
Community Manager Vojkan Posted October 15, 2025 Community Manager #4 Posted October 15, 2025 When I was a little boy they told me if I read too much that one slimy guy with hanging boobies will be my president and destroy everything around him. I continued reading and now the only thing I can say is: Sorry for not listening to my parents. spaceoddtiddy, NemanjaPi, zhestka and 3 others 1 2 1 1 1

brucewyne Posted October 17, 2025 #7 Posted October 17, 2025 In Korea, there used to be an urban legend about a woman with a slit mouth wearing a red mask. She would approach children and ask them questions, and if they answered wrong, she would cut their mouths. spaceoddtiddy and FilipTa 1 1
Moderator FilipTa Posted October 17, 2025 Author Moderator #8 Posted October 17, 2025 Balkans most popular creature is Drekavac. This creature, which has a large head, a thin neck, and fur, is most often found in cemeteries and other dark places, as it cannot endure light. Drekavacs represent souls of unbaptized children. Looks fluffy. 🖤 Aerena09, brucewyne, daffyducky and 1 other 1 2 1
CulitoFuerte Posted October 17, 2025 #9 Posted October 17, 2025 This is not a story, but something that really happened to me when I was around 14 or 15 years old. At first, it was just shadows. I kept seeing them pass in front of me, to the left or right, quick shapes that vanished when I tried to focus. I thought my eyes were just playing tricks on me. But one evening, as I was coming home, something different happened. Through the big glass door of my house, I saw a figure moving. It was walking from the kitchen toward my bedroom. I saw it clearly, and I was completely sure it was my mother. The shape, the way it moved, everything felt familiar. I didn’t feel scared, just certain that she had gone into my room for something. When I reached my room, the door was closed. I opened it. The room was dark. I turned on the light. Nobody was there. For a moment, I thought my mother might be hiding behind the door, trying to scare me like she sometimes does. I looked. There was no one. The room was completely empty, silent, heavier than usual, as if the air itself was watching me. Later that day, after dinner, I lay on my bed staring at the ceiling. My arms rested at my sides, my hands hanging off the edge. There was a small space between the bed and the wall, maybe 20cm. A few seconds passed. Then I felt it. Something gently grabbed my hand. It wasn’t a brush or a breeze. It was a human hand. Warm. Solid. Real. I jumped up and ran out of the room screaming. I told my parents what I was experiencing since they heard me creaming and took me to church the next day. The priest held a long prayer for nearly an hour with just me. Since that day, I have never seen the shadows again or any other stranger things. But every night, before I fall asleep, I make sure my hands stay on the bed. Never off the side :)) Zamia2001 1

Support MilicaRa Posted October 20, 2025 Support #12 Posted October 20, 2025 When I was little, my grandmother warned me about Drekavci - the spirits of children who died before being baptized, roaming forests and graveyards at night, crying in terrible, high-pitched screams. One night, my friend and I decided to go to the cemetery just to feel the fear in our bones. We tiptoed among the gravestones, listening to the wind and imagining those ghostly cries. Every shadow seemed alive, every rustle made our hearts pound. I’ve always loved that feeling of being scared. I used to read the book The Whisper Man alone at night, imagining the stories coming to life around me. I was terrified of Slenderman that I saw in a video game, picturing him lurking in the shadows of the forest, tall and silent, watching from between the trees. spaceoddtiddy and Aerena09 1 1
Aerena09 Posted October 21, 2025 #13 Posted October 21, 2025 They say you should never swim alone in a river you do not know. Some rivers are not empty, they breathe, and something waits beneath the still water, patient and hungry. The villagers call it the River Ghost, a restless spirit that drags the living into its cold embrace, pulling them down until not even their shadow returns to the surface. And there is another warning, one far more dreadful. When you are alone at the riverside, and someone calls your name or shouts something from far away, do not answer. No matter how familiar the voice may seem, no matter how desperate it sounds, do not. Those who speak back are said to freeze in their tracks, eyes vacant, lips trembling, as if a cold, unseen hand has taken hold. Their bodies may still move, but their souls, they are never seen again. Zamia2001 1
Moderator StefanTl Posted October 27, 2025 Moderator #14 Posted October 27, 2025 The shadow people stories really stuck with me. I think I even saw one once when I was younger — a dark shape by the door that freaked me out so bad I couldn’t sleep for days. Aerena09 1
dubidutsalad Posted October 27, 2025 #15 Posted October 27, 2025 When my uncles were younger.. they used to tell me a story about their granddad.. Granddad was about 17 or 18. It was his first time traveling home from the city. Driving home to the reservation was always an adventure for us in the 60s. He left a little later than normal. As nightfall hit. The rain starts.. he shifts his focus onto the road and turns down the radio. He notices someone. Hitchhiking. Ignores him and keeps driving. Wanting to get home, But after 3 or 4 miles. He sees the same figure.. same long coat.. ignores him again. Keeps driving.. and just before he reaches home. Sees the figure for a 3rd time.. slows down but does not stop, Keeps driving past him.. as he is about to take the exit home. Sees the person, wearing a hat looking at him in his rear view mirror. Turns around.. Only to see what appears to be hooves going down into the floor of the car... And gone.. Rushes home. Tells the family.. They all brush it off. And it just becomes the family ghost story.. Careful when driving.

pandaboy1989 Posted November 10, 2025 #18 Posted November 10, 2025 They told me that there is an old witch who roams the streets in the summer to find those who do not sleep and are outside in the sun, stealing them, cutting off their hands and making magic spells with them. They made us afraid to go out when the sun is shining from midday until 4 pm.😅👻 FilipTa 1
