When it comes to servers with lots of modifications and modes that made it funny to play with friends, I'd go for 1.6, but when it comes to a competitive experience, csgo is better for it. You can't really compare neither of them as csgo wasn't really made as an improvement to 1.6s fun, but rather as an improvement when it comes to esports. 1.6 - fun friendly csgo - competitive
Pirnitho Posted January 1, 2019 #10 Posted January 1, 2019 I played a whole bunch of 1.6 back in the day and got to the point where I was a good contender for top score at the end of the round (mostly playing dust and dust2 servers.. long live "dust forever"!) I really enjoyed the sense of increasing in skill, and the freedom to try a new strategy every single round. But, try as I might, I've watched many tournament streams of CSGO and I just can't get into it in the same way as I did 1.6. I'll keep trying, no doubt, but the feel is not the same, it feels much more rushed and unforgiving - perhaps it's some 'spectator placebo effect'. I'll never forget the fun days I have playing 1.6. Not sure it's possible to recreate those experiences today, unfortunately..
