griffinreynolds Posted November 25, 2018 #1 Posted November 25, 2018 Hello everyone, griffinreynolds here! I saw it yesterday and told the users to be aware of impersonators like the one I found which the real person is Lovetogamble29 and the impersonator was lovetogamble29 so the differences are the letters which the real Lovetogamble29 has a capital letter L and the impersonator has a small letter l. I saw Lovetogamble29 yesterday was a High Roller, the impersonator guy had messaged me about 2 days ago me saying like HEEEYYYYYY to me and some other things. So I thought he was Lovetogamble29 but it wasnt like that. I knew that lovetogamble29 had messaged me about 2 days ago and so I decided to reply to his message and I clicked on the real Lovetogamble29 profile and saw a difference in chat he didn’t message me. I asked him about this thing and he said that lovetogamble29 wasn’t the real one. I could get scammed from the impersonator or maybe tip him so much money or do something. I got scammed like this from another guy where he got some money from me and I didn’t know that for a long time ago until now today. I think Stake should fix this in registering system to prevent scams and other things from impersonators. In the registering system where you put your name there you can’t register same names only if they have a difference on capital letters or small letters. I can show you guys here some photos from yesterday I made about Lovetogamble29 and lovetogamble29... 2 different chats that was a bit strange to me at first but then I understood. What do you guys think about this? - Thanks for the time you spent reading this topic and please feel free to ask or give your opinions about this topic.

williamshennie9 Posted November 25, 2018 #3 Posted November 25, 2018 Wow, this is extremely sneaky. Perhaps Stake should change the font on their website to clearly distinguish between an uppercase "I", and a lower case "l". Even as I type them on the forum, they look identical. I can see how this could be a serious problem. Perhaps if this happens more frequently, Stake could consider changing the font.

Hey there, It is not possible to register an account with an already existing username regardless of the capital/small letter. What happened there is that the impersonator put capital letter I (i) instead of l (L), therefore iovetogamble29 appeared easily as Iovetogamble29. He/she has been reported yesterday and immediately banned.
bmg Posted November 25, 2018 #5 Posted November 25, 2018 Nice to know they were caught . good catch kudos to u for noticing that.
Etude Posted November 25, 2018 #6 Posted November 25, 2018 Good to hear that such impersonators has received an immediate ban and rightfully deserves it.
lupandina Posted November 25, 2018 #7 Posted November 25, 2018 One more trick, impersonators love to try, is using fake bank acc's. In this example, some "lovetogamblebank" would pm you. Good way to check is to find account in forum, and click on linked stake account there.

There are many other users like him/her doing that hope they got caught and get banned. 29 minutes ago, lupandina said: One more trick, impersonators love to try, is using fake bank acc's. Yeah that can be another way to imitate someone else and scam, do things on behalf of someone else etc etc. But about this we don’t have anything or don’t know how to prevent these kind of things.. Maybe Stake should make a verification system(button in your account where you verify your second account as your Bank) and maybe a command like /verify [name] to verify someone’s bank account or his account, that would be so nice so we know the real people in Stake. Anyway it’s kinda boring this idea
Snike Posted November 25, 2018 #10 Posted November 25, 2018 Stake could just automatically put all the usernames in Caps which would prevent people from being mislead by a capital i or a lowercase L.
irawk0 Posted November 25, 2018 #11 Posted November 25, 2018 Jesus... people sure are getting desperate. There is honestly nothing Stake can do to fix this, since the amount of players is way too much to keep track of everyone, variations and all. I suggest before you tip... first of all add them to friends (actually if you can pm, chances are they are your friends) and don't tip without seeing that friends symbol. If not sure ask them to confirm in chat or see their total gambling stats. Usually imposters will have made maybe 10 bets and joined like yesterday or something recent. It really is up to the community to report these scammers as quick as possible tbh.

Yeah that could be a fix for that in the chat where we can detect impersonators easily. lupandina Posted November 25, 2018 #13 Posted November 25, 2018 And for conclusion - just don't tip not friends
Guest Posted November 25, 2018 #14 Posted November 25, 2018 In case you notice anything suspicious, don't hesitate to contact us and we will check everything and act accordingly. Snike has a point with names written in all caps, but not sure how appealing that would look in the chat, to be honest. If this continues to be an issue, we will do something about it, maybe accept his suggestion or find another solution, but at the moment, just be careful, we are keeping an eye on that as well, and acting fast in case there is any report.

Administrator Edward Posted November 26, 2018 Administrator #16 Posted November 26, 2018 This makes sense to sort out. Hopefully we can make a good distinction through showing capital I's in a different manner.
Mistake Posted November 26, 2018 #17 Posted November 26, 2018 hmm how thats works? stake cannot register when same nickname next time we must check their stats when thats happen
jualid Posted November 26, 2018 #18 Posted November 26, 2018 15 minutes ago, Mistake said: hmm how thats works? stake cannot register when same nickname next time we must check their stats when thats happen It's using "i" Capital, it's like "L" lower case and vice versa. So be careful about the impersonators!

jualid Posted November 26, 2018 #20 Posted November 26, 2018 Just now, Mistake said: ahh aggre thats like my alt MlSTAKE Well your name is Mistake, don't have "L" or "I", so you should be fine
Kate Posted November 26, 2018 #21 Posted November 26, 2018 This isn't the first time there have been many impersonators that have tried to scam people by using the high profile of the players and their name. Well every site will have scammers and there is nothing that can stop them seriously !

No, it doesn't matter when tipping either, it will go to the only one possible account with the username you directed your tip to. 2 hours ago, jualid said: Well your name is Mistake, don't have "L" or "I", so you should be fine This is how these usernames can be deceiving, he has i which is enough to create, for example, MLSTAKE (MlSTAKE), which is luckily his alt as he said above. Smart move, @Mistake

lupandina Posted November 26, 2018 #24 Posted November 26, 2018 Actually, I even intentionally created my alt's with capital "i" in some sites, and then went to support with ask mute it
