One time, I remember hearing a rumor that James Harden had been traded to another team, and I was actually pretty disappointed at first. A few years ago, a local radio station announced with utter seriousness that the city had approved a plan to replace all traffic lights with roundabouts starting that very day. They had a fake city planner on, complete with sound bites about “efficiency” and “European models.” I spent my entire commute mentally recalculating my route, groaning about the impending construction chaos. I was this close to calling my boss to say I’d be late for the next six months. I only realized it was a prank when I pulled into my office parking lot, saw a car with a “Honk if You Love Roundabouts” bumper sticker, and it finally clicked.
