Hey stake fam,

I was talking with some friends about time travel and realized everyone has a different opinion on whether itโ€™s cooler to go back in time or leap forward.

Personally, Iโ€™d choose the past.

Iโ€™d love to see history unfold with my own eyes and maybe even meet some famous figures.

What do y'all think?ย

I think this is a really interesting question. I would personally love to do both for very different reasons. All through my adult life, I've enjoyed music from a time a I wasn't born in, and it would be a great thing to go back in the past and witness how that music naturally unfolded, watch my favourite bands live, and live in the rock and roll era which doesn't exist anymore. It has always fascinated me how cool everything looked before the digital age, so going back in the past would mean, enriching the experience in real time, rather than vicariously experiencing it in emotion, nostalgia or memory. The cassette, film camera generation, hahahhaha, and how everyone always looked super cool in how they dressed up. People seemed much more alive and not consumed by the internet. So, in general, I would like to experience life before the digital age.ย

As for the future, this is a little more personal, but I wanna witness something in my life that depends a lot on time and circumstances, and know if all the effort that Iโ€™m putting into it right now isnโ€™t for nothing. But Iโ€™m not entirely sure I would just like that ending to be something I would enjoy, because isnโ€™t the future a sum total of lived experience, and itโ€™s the journey that counts? So maybe it wonโ€™t be much of an experience, but it will be sweet to witness that something I put my heart into still exists 40 years from now, hehe. ๐Ÿ‘€

Both options are really tempting. Itโ€™s honestly hard to choose. Going back in time would be amazing to see how things actually were and experience them firsthand.

But I think Iโ€™d still choose the future. Iโ€™m just more curious about whatโ€™s coming next and how things will turn out.

The past is important, and we can learn a lot from it, but I feel like itโ€™s better to focus more on whatโ€™s ahead rather than looking back too much.

Definitely the past ๐Ÿ˜„
The future looks a bit too unpredictable for my taste, so Iโ€™ll just stay where the memories are already sorted.

Going back to the past would make you want to change something that has already happened. Doing that could change the outcome of your present, which would affect your future. Even the slightest change in your past could mean that you were never born or your world might not exist at all.

Being here, in the present, is a good and safe position, but if your future self were to visit you, you would have something to guide you, but it could also change the outcome of your futureโ€™s past. Aand you would break the perfect chain of time. You would always want to โ€œfixโ€ something, and it would eventually lead to a loophole.

So, the beginning is the end, and the end is the beginning.
Itโ€™s best to stay here, in the present.
