Account lock?

As a gambler who tries to kick his habit but keeps getting hooked on it, I believe stake needs an account lock mode, like many other websites. I'm pretty sure many of the members like me like the community of stake but at the same time, they are trying to stay away from gambling. So having an option which blocks and prevents placing bets while letting the user use the chat and forums for a specific time is a must to make sure everyone is gambling responsibly. So as it came out as a suggestion, I'd e glad if you guys share your ideas about it.

What your proposing is voluntary self exclusion, and i Dont believe stake offers such a feature. I do know that you could request from a support member to self ban for a certain period of time but I don't know how helpful that may be since creating a new account is so easy. Maybe they can bam your IP and that would be better but idk. Personally I believe that stake should shoulder the responsibility of helping users overcome bad gambling habits by at least providing a way to self exclude , alttho they don't have to do anything cuz it's a business in the end and irresponsible gambling is free money to them 😛

Well, this might be an option good enough for the ones that are addicted to gambling but as I've said it maany times before. Stake is a company, not a charity maker (well, this one is questionable as Stake makes a lot of charity donations). They won't give an option that will cut their profit, right? They want you to bet, they want to make the website more attractive and more appealing to the users and so they will bet more. Why adding an option to limit that? I really don't know. They have the disclaimer at the bottom and if you need help with your addiction, you can always call one of those numbers, but Stake shouldn't implement anything to stop you. They already added Vault, anything more than that is overkill already. In any casino you will enter in this world, nobody will ever tell you to stop betting because you're getting addicted, but rather will try and make you even more addicted and lose/win even more. That's the truth...

How would one lock their account (if we built the feature) and how do you get an account unlocked? Is it permanent?

I would expect that if you contact support they will delete your account for you.  Maybe after a waiting period or something to make sure it is really you.  Another idea I've seen employed is to just change your password to something random that you will never remember.

Of course, no matter if you "lock" your account, or they delete it, you can always just make another and play on it.  Sadly the internet makes it really easy to feed your gambling addiction if you have one.

If you're really addicted, I don't think disabling your account but continuing to allow you on chat will really help.  I've seen lots of accounts locked on other sites, and the person who has them locked almost always makes alt accounts to gamble.  If you have a problem best to get real help and make a clean break.  @christy did this and it seems to have worked out really well for her.

Thats really the case. I mean I’ve just turned 22 . I’ve been gambling since the age of 16 and I believe that’ll just ruin my financial future .

account lock is basically muted some what... but if you trying to stay away from gambling..don't enter casino..better yet keep yourself occupied.. pick up a pen paper.. write down on things you want to do..plan out the whole week..then start checking off the things you finish etc.. pick up a new habit i mean hobby.. anything that doesn't involve or reminds you of gambling...if u have an urge to gamble ride a bike.. ride as far as u can and ride back.. you will be too tired to play..

I like the idea to be honest. If i remember correctly, @Eugene265 has stopped gambling, and while it was through sheer willpower(kudos), I'm sure something like this would have helped.

My question is, what is to stop someone from just making another name to gamble?  I mean plenty of people already have nineteen alt, so what is one more?

Asking ID card/Passport/utility bill for the ones who want to stop gambling works. thats when verification gets useful.

Well, after dealing with lots of struggles, stress and nervousness in my life only caused by gambling, I decided to stop it myself :) This will be my last post on this forum. I wish everyone luck, and a bright future ❤️

Once you enable the lock, how do you get the lock removed before the expire time?

This makes absolutely no sense at all.  How will closing your Stake account effect your financial future?  I made a serious and intelligent response to your question, it's fine if you don't want to comment but it would be helpful if it was related to what you quoted.

The main problem is not the mechanics of the lock, it's that you can easily make another account and play.
