Is poker more about skill or luck?

I've heard different opinions about this. Do you think poker is mostly skill, mostly luck, or a mix of both? I'd like to hear what experienced players think.

fr it's a mix but skill takes over long term, luck just decides who wins the short sessions.

Over a big enough sample size the math doesn’t lie, so skill wins out. Short-term variance can make you feel like a genius or a donkey though.

long run it’s definitely a skill game, but those nights where you lose with aces three times in a row make you question everything

I'd say 90% skill 10% luck if we're talking about the long game. The luck part is what makes it not feel like chess though, keeps it fun and unpredictble in the moment.

i feel like the "long run skill" crowd downplays luck a bit too much, cause even pros get wrecked for months sometimes and it's not always tilt or bad play, just the deck being cruel. the real skill is surviving those stretches without going broke, which is way harder than it sounds
