i hovered around 34bb for a whole level once and just watched everyone chip up around me, it was miserable. now id prob take a marginal flip if i think i can get close to 45bb and actually have some fold equity vs the shorter stacks.

38bb is fine but are you mostly looking to ladder or push for the win?

38bb is doable for a bit but you basically lose all 3bet bluff fold equity against deeper stacks who will happily call you light, so id look to open up my button aggression and try scoop a few preflop pots before the blinds creep up if the table is playing too tight

id honestly push a little bigger, 38bb is fine til the blinds spike and then its suddenly less room than you think
