nyxlor Posted July 11 #26 Posted July 11 the mental part is so huge, i found that simply standing up and stretching for ten seconds between hands does wonders for keeping my head clear
thornund Posted July 11 #28 Posted July 11 i always felt like folding at the right time teaches you more about the game than winning a big pot does, cause it forces you to really read the situation instead of just riding a lucky streak. some people chase that adrenaline from bluffing but i think the quiet discipline of knowing when to let go sticks with you longer.
Nalorzyl0 Posted July 11 #29 Posted July 11 I folded pocket queens preflop once because the guy next to me was shaking so bad reaching for chips, turned out he had aces and I saved my whole stack.
Sydneyelle3 Posted July 12 #30 Posted July 12 Taht calm after a bad beat is real hard to hold onto sometimes. One thing that helped me was forcing myself to literally sit out one hand after a tilt moment, just stand up and grab water real quick before I do something dumb. It sounds simple but it stops me from chasing losses almost every time.
Seleneosin9 Posted July 13 #31 Posted July 13 yea the real game is just managing your own patience more than anything else
lyrairyth Posted July 13 #32 Posted July 13 I remember this one hand where i folded a middling pair on the river cuse my gut just screamed he had it, and he flipped over aces with this tiny smirk. Now i watch for that little smile way more than the cards themselves
