pepeg Posted January 27, 2019 #1 Posted January 27, 2019 Scams that involve Ethereum in 2018 have reached $36 million in damages to victims, twice as much compared to 2017. It appears that as trading volumes grow, more scammers join the ride as well... https://all-stocks.net/ethereum-scams-more-than-doubled-in-2018-with-36-million-stolen/ The biggest problem of these scams is that they ruin both the reputation of Ethereum and the entire crypto industry as a whole... Hopefully, more security measures will be implemented so the industry won't be tainted by these criminals.
Babagucci Posted January 27, 2019 #2 Posted January 27, 2019 It is a shame with how many scams there are and not only that but legitimate ICO's that just ended up failing. It certainly didn't help when the price dropped dramatically. But in terms of scams it seems 99% are some type of scam. It's easy money for these scammers because you have investors that aren't familiar who end up investing half their savings.
Kate Posted January 29, 2019 #3 Posted January 29, 2019 Sad to see that huge number of 36 Million dollars. Can't beleive that those scammers made like millions of dollars i thought that they only made around 5 million. That's why when your investing into anything no particularly only ICO's but everything even real estate companies do research and then only invest or there is a chance of you to get scammed
skillex Posted February 25, 2019 #4 Posted February 25, 2019 This situation really requires an action like implementing a blockchain education to every curriculum at least since the victims are mostly from newbies in crypto.Im just thankful now that PH finally implement it too. https://www.unblock.news/news/more-ph-schools-to-have-nem-ph-blockchain-courses
KiXxnTRiXx Posted February 25, 2019 #5 Posted February 25, 2019 Its an online based currency, this is to be expected (sad to even say that).. but since our current system and living environment thats based on money and material things, this will be an ongoing thing unfortunately.. this is pretty much easy money for the scammers and hackers since they wont even have to leave their homes anymore.. bank robbery has been very low nowadays because instead of going to the banks, they will just scam or hack online for that payout and less risk!.. sad that it happend and sorry for the loss of those affected.. but in knowing this is bound to happend, may rethink keeping all their eggs in one basket, or keeping it in a online basket for matter.. nothing is 100% safe, no matter what you hear or told..
