agu10 Posted Tuesday at 06:33 PM #1 Posted Tuesday at 06:33 PM I think poker games are 90% luck then maybe 🤔 10% luck ..
thornva Posted 23 hours ago #2 Posted 23 hours ago Nah, short term it's all luck, but over thousands of hands the 10% skill really starts to show
frostra Posted 22 hours ago #3 Posted 22 hours ago nah short term variance is wild but long term the math don't lie, you can't bluff your way through 100k hands on luck alone
syleon Posted 21 hours ago #4 Posted 21 hours ago tbh sounds like you just described my entire poker career in one sentence 😂
raxtha68 Posted 20 hours ago #5 Posted 20 hours ago So you're saying it's 100% luck with 10% skill sprinkled on top? Sounds about right for my last session tbh
steinry Posted 20 hours ago #6 Posted 20 hours ago that math ain't mathing but honestly i feel this in my soul after last night's bad beats
larski2 Posted 19 hours ago #7 Posted 19 hours ago that 90% luck 10% luck math is giving me a headache but I can't argue with it ngl
lorramia Posted 16 hours ago #8 Posted 16 hours ago I remember a hand years ago where I went all in with absolute rags just to blind steal and somehow hit a full house on the river, and the guy tilted so hard he didn't play for a month. That 10% skill probably kicked in when I decided to use that crazy win as my table image for the next two hours.
sophkaon9 Posted 13 hours ago #9 Posted 13 hours ago If you want to tip the scales toward that tiiny slice of skill, start tracking your session notes immediately after you stand up from the table while the reads are still fresh.
frostolesse Posted 13 hours ago #10 Posted 13 hours ago yeah its basically all luck till u bluff the righht guy at the right moment
Zylixlyn Posted 12 hours ago #11 Posted 12 hours ago It really does feel like a 90% luck game until you sit with someone who peels apart every bet sizing tell like an onion. My personal take is the skill only reveals itself over thousands of hands but on a single Tuesday night anything can happen.
vyxynyth Posted 6 hours ago #13 Posted 6 hours ago fr i once sat at a 1/2 table for 6 hours and only won a single pot where i bluffed with 7 2 offsuit and the villain folded kings face up. that 10% skill is just knowing when to get lucky i guess lol
vaelirax Posted 3 hours ago #14 Posted 3 hours ago I spent three monts religiously logging every session and the brutal reality was my biggest winning nights were always when I hit my draws way above expectation, not when I thought I played particularly well.
Ravirtia Posted 2 hours ago #15 Posted 2 hours ago On a single hand luck steamrolls everything but over a month the guy who always 3 bets too wide bleeds off his rent while the nit picks up crumbs, so I lean more toward the grind rewarding discipline than the coinflip fantasy.
kovaevan Posted 14 minutes ago #16 Posted 14 minutes ago Poker is mostly watchng paint dry punctuated by 60 second bursts of misery, so either way the house wins.
