ivshengyn58 Posted July 9 #2 Posted July 9 It’s both tbh, short term luck can carry you but over time it’s all about reading people and staying disciplined.
havenra Posted July 9 #3 Posted July 9 tbh it’s mostly mind games once you’re past the beginner level, luck just decides which way the bad beats go
ladyora Posted July 9 #4 Posted July 9 It’s a mind game with a luck seasoning, without the mental part you’re just gambling blind.
Winexen6 Posted July 9 #5 Posted July 9 Honestly it's a mind game wrapped in luck's packaging. You can't control the cards but you can control how everyone at the table perceives them.
maxe34dtal3 Posted July 9 #6 Posted July 9 no cap bro, it's all about playing the player, not just the cards ?
kendallixvi Posted July 10 #7 Posted July 10 The word "luck" always feels like a placeholder for variance you haven't figured out how to explain yet.
frostorvi Posted July 10 #8 Posted July 10 Its pure mental chess when you stare down a river bet with second pair knowing villian bluffs 70% of his missed draaws
lorelyn7 Posted July 10 #9 Posted July 10 I once folded pocket aces on the flop because the guy across from me had this weird lip twitch every time he hit a monster, and sure enough he showed a flopped set. Made me a believer that it's way more about reading people than whatever two cards you're holding.
Ryxoslyn Posted July 10 #10 Posted July 10 feel like its a mind game with a splash of chaos, especially in omaha where the odds flip so fast
krxalra361 Posted July 10 #12 Posted July 10 Mind games for sure, bluffing my way through Texas Hold'em tonight.
lilyaryth Posted July 10 #13 Posted July 10 Do you think the luck side kicks in more when everyones deep stacked or shorstacked?
loranienne Posted July 10 #14 Posted July 10 It always felt like a mental chess mtach the moment you stop staring at your own cards and start watching how long the other guy takes to check.
synaessa Posted July 10 #15 Posted July 10 Ever folded a royal draw cause you just knew the other guy had the nuts
voxoswyn Posted July 10 #17 Posted July 10 It starts as luck until you notice the guy who hasn't blinked in three orbits, then it's pure theater.
talkingbrush Posted July 11 #18 Posted July 11 yeah its both bro, luck hits short term but teh real edge is in reading guys and not tilting lol ?
krxoltia Posted July 11 #19 Posted July 11 Its totally a mind gamme once you get past the first few hands. Luck just decides who wins today but reading people decides who still has a bankroll next month
nigarium Posted July 11 #20 Posted July 11 yeah bro both matter but ngl the real edge is in reading teh table, luck just trolls you sometimes ?
BIrivA4 Posted July 11 #21 Posted July 11 yeah both matter but ngl poker gets realy deep once you start reading teh table bro ?
tyxus Posted July 11 #22 Posted July 11 Do you find that the mind game part changes completely when you switch between online and live play?
faithirry Posted July 11 #23 Posted July 11 I once bluffed a guy out of a huge pot with nothing but a nervous twitch I couldn't control, so for me it's deinitely more mind game than luck.
vyclor Posted July 11 #24 Posted July 11 Bit of both for sure but the mind games is where the real fun is, i once folded a straight just cause the other guy looked to relaxed
