I don't think bringing it back is a great move. The whole concept just feels like a way for the rich clubs to lock in their status and cut off the chance for smaller teams to ever dream of rising up.

If they really want to fix the calendar they should just cap the number of international breaks instead of adding another competition, players are dropping like flies already.

They could use the Super League cash to fund a proper insurance and pension pot for playes in lower divisions, that would change the conversation a bit.

Proper relegation and promotion slots built into the Super League would make it actually worth watching instead of a closed shop cash grab. I would put money on the first big upset in the knockout stages blowing up every sportsbook if they ever launch this thing for real.

But do you think the fans would actually stay loyal if it juust became a travelling circus every week or would the local matchday vibe die out completely?

Would genuinely love to see how the betting odds move for a Juventus vs Man City group stage game, the liquidity would be insane and probably wreck the bookies eary pricing models

I'm on the fence but leaning towards bring it back, I kinda miss the chaos of those midweek elite clashes. At leasst it gave us a break from the same predictable domestic league results every weekend.

The scramble to price up a Real Madrid vs PSG knockout tie would make the bookies squirm, imagine the liability if they botcch the draw odds.
