wry Posted February 27, 2019 #1 Posted February 27, 2019 I know there are many Ethereum fans out there as it is the #2 alt coin by value and a popular coin on Stake. So it was nice to find a good article that summarizes the not one, but two hard forks coming to that coin on 28 Feb. Note that these are NOT hard forks that are expected to result in alternate chains and new coins but rather updates to the Ethereum code that will make major changes that can only be done via a hard fork. Many of the changes will not even be noticable to average users. The first fork Constantinople was planned to happen last year but was delayed. It is needed to mitigate the "difficulty bomb" that will make Ethereum mining uneconomical if not changed. The big change is that the mining reward will go from 3 ETH to 2 ETH, so miners will be sad and this might explain some of the strength we've seen in ETH price recently. The other fork, St. Petersburg, is to correct some issues that have been identified with the Constantinople upgrade. As always, never a dull moment in the crypto universe! cryptofly Posted February 19, 2020 #2 Posted February 19, 2020 There is no doubt that the Ethereum blockchain is one of the most sought by the update through the development of new protocols. And each of these changes is becoming more thorough and is being perfected for details as you well mentioned, they are difficult to notice for most. Perhaps the most significant change in this new "fork" is the ability to receive a reward through the PoS method, which I think is the one of the best changes ever for this blockchain. The PoS method has proven to be a very effective one in granting a reward for all those who keep the coin and creates a strong relationship among "hodlers" and the Ethereum technology itself. It is wonderful to be here at this particular moment. Good luck.
