ok so this ain't just randoms coping anymore, there's actual receipts this tournament:

vs Cape Verde: ref let an injured Argentina player back on the pitch early during a Cape Verde corner, fans said that broke the rules straight up

vs Algeria: Messi caught studs-up on a tackle, refs waved it off, even ESPN analysts said it was a stone cold red card

vs Egypt: Egypt had a goal disallowed by VAR while up 2-0, then Argentina came back to win 3-2 right after, and lots more controversial calls

so is FIFA actually tilting things for another Messi's World Cup, or is the refereeing just inconsistent across the board this tournament and Argentina's catching the headlines cuz they're the champs?
