Hello guys I just want to hear your opinions (as it seems most people here are working already)
I'm about to graduate BS Civil Engineering  soon (FINALLY), and I'm wondering if i should go into the field to take experience or should i pursue my master's degree first?

I am heavily conflicted because my professors say that getting master's degree will greatly increase my earning potential in the future, but it will delay me more from earning for myself. Besides, i don't want to rely on my parents anymore on my studies. I'm in a dilemma and i hope someone can help me decide. Thanks! :D

And also, if you have any ideas on the salary grade of civil engineers in your country please add it here too haha so that i would know what country should i aim for :D

I would say for engineering a masters degree is a must. At least that's the way it is in the US. I can really only think of nuclear engineering as one of the fields where holding just a bachelor's is enough to get a job but otherwise with the competition out there, a masters has become a requirement to even get entry level positions. Also a master's would open you up to positions globally.

that's a great advice. Thank you very much!

i'm seriously considering pursuing master's degree now, nat just because of what you said, but also when i asked multiple people of the same profession.

Well, this is a question only you could really answer.. we can make suuggestion in helping you make a choice, but only you know the answer.. What would you say is important or what you would value more, making big bucks or not as big but more involved in helping create those that would benifit your community? .. once you know your answer and it is what your heart truely wants, not because of what others would think, or what you think would be others but truely only your desire, that should help you with finding which path to take..

Goodluck with whatever you end up going with.. xD

Well that's really why i'm asking for outside opinions on this one. I need insights from people that are out there now to tell me what they know about this so that i will not make the wrong choice. I still don't knnow much since i will only be graduating soon. And when it comes, i hope to have made my mind already.

In my opinion, you should get Master degree, because at some countries or some companies, higher degree is meaning higher salary, besides your skill and your real working.

hmmm yea thaat sounds right, but it will take more years for me to study, and as what i have heard, it is not that easy to get.. Although i really consider this cause of what majority of the people i have asked about this. thank you very much!

Congrats with your nearly final exam as graduate BS Civil Engineering. I think you should continue your studies and get your master's degree.  Also if you start to earn money now, it will be harder to go back to studies later. But it is your life, you much know whats best for you.

Thank you very much and you're right. That's one way to look at it. They say that brain functions slower or learns slower when you age right?

It might dos, but you will most likely be going back and learn new things from different course the rest of your working-age life, as long as it something your already working with, it shouldn't be any problem.
