I noticed nobody mentioned the "tied up" part literally, like what if that money could've been earning elsewhere while it's sitting on one match for 90 minutes. That delay alone makes me think twice about letting a chunk just hang there, even if the % rule seems safe on paper

That's one of the biggest problems with sports betting. If you start with, say, a $20 bankroll, you might begin by making small bets, but because your bankroll is so limited, you'll often end up going all-in sooner or later—either trying to recover your losses or hoping for a miracle win that turns it into a much bigger amount. That's one of the reasons sportsbooks are so profitable. A small bankroll is very difficult to grow, and people end up risking more than they should.

I'd focus on starting with a healthy bankroll and only betting a small percentage of it each time. That way, you give yourself a much better chance of staying in the game and growing your bankroll gradually over the long run

I just set a hard cap like 5-10% max per game and stick to it no matter how good the bet looks. lol been burned too many times thinking it was a lock.

Great question! A good rule of thumb is to only bet a small percentage of your bankroll on any single match—like 1-5%. That way, you spread the risk and can keep playing even if a bet doesn’t go your way.

I guess you can use Dollar Cost Average ~ DCA to checkmate this, that way you can split your funds across several bets instead of one, and increase your chances of growing your portfolio, hence reducing your exposure as much as possible
