ChiMoney2006 Posted yesterday at 04:51 PM #1 Posted yesterday at 04:51 PM There are so many stats available now—xG, shots on target, possession, corners, head-to-head, and more. If you could only use one statistic before placing a football bet, which would you choose and why?
notyomuse Posted yesterday at 04:56 PM #2 Posted yesterday at 04:56 PM Possession to is the easiest thing to bet on ever.
chevstar65 Posted yesterday at 05:35 PM #3 Posted yesterday at 05:35 PM Possession stats can be misleading though tbh, I've seen teams with 70% of the ball lose 2-0 too many times. I'd probably lean on xG because it at least gives you a sense of actual chance quality.
Wickys Posted yesterday at 05:59 PM #4 Posted yesterday at 05:59 PM xG is my go-to as well, shows which team actually created the better chances instead of just who passed it around more.
giantballers Posted yesterday at 07:05 PM #5 Posted yesterday at 07:05 PM ngl shots on target feels way more reliable than all that possession noise 🔥
novaast Posted yesterday at 08:03 PM #6 Posted yesterday at 08:03 PM xG is the one for me too, it cuts through the noise and shows who actually should've scored rather than who just hogged the ball.
tycienne Posted yesterday at 08:25 PM #7 Posted yesterday at 08:25 PM Hard to argue with xG tbh, it's about the only stat that actually reflects which team was more dangerous regardless of the final score.
larslia Posted 23 hours ago #8 Posted 23 hours ago Shots on target for me, it's simple and doesn't need a math degree to understand. At least you know the keeper actually had to work.
gauzetos Posted 23 hours ago #9 Posted 23 hours ago xG gets my vote too, it’s saved me from backing teams that looked good on paper but never actually threatened.
doseess Posted 23 hours ago #10 Posted 23 hours ago xG for me too, especially when the scoreline doesn't match the performance — it's saved my bets more than once when a team got unlucky.
lorin7 Posted 23 hours ago #11 Posted 23 hours ago xG easily, it's the only one that actually tells you if a team is creating proper chances or just passing it around the box doing nothing
acer71jc Posted 21 hours ago #13 Posted 21 hours ago ngl i'm with u on shots on target too, it's real data on who's actually challenging teh keeper ?
onyxlyn5 Posted 21 hours ago #15 Posted 21 hours ago Shots on target. The rest feels like noise most weeks.
Lilyolzyl Posted 20 hours ago #17 Posted 20 hours ago xG can be nice but it often ignores thta some teams just can't finish for toffee
Umbraalora2 Posted 18 hours ago #19 Posted 18 hours ago Do you thik shots on target still matters if the keeper is havin a blinder though?
hollowanoria23 Posted 17 hours ago #21 Posted 17 hours ago Form just gives clean sheets, do you ever check that?
shredralyn Posted 16 hours ago #22 Posted 16 hours ago I usually leaan on recent form because a squad low on confidence can ruin any underlying stat.
lorelyn7 Posted 16 hours ago #23 Posted 16 hours ago Honestly I dont fully buy into the xG hype, it feels too abstract when you got teams that always find a way to lose despite decent numbers. I'd rather go with something boring like team news, cause a missing key defender can flip the whole game no matter what the fancy sttats say.
striketos Posted 11 hours ago #24 Posted 11 hours ago Possession stats flatter teams who do nothing with the ball.
vyxoslia Posted 11 hours ago #25 Posted 11 hours ago If I'm forced to pick one it's shots on target, mostly because it's a lot harder for a team to luck their way into a high number there compared to corners or possession.
