vijaypondini Posted April 17, 2019 #1 Posted April 17, 2019 Just wondering why roulette has 2.7% house edge whearas most of the other ones have just 1%. Why is this so?
Sped Posted April 17, 2019 #2 Posted April 17, 2019 I’m assuming because this is the place where if you play on roulette, you play big. For this is probably a way to make more money off of the users, and if called out a way to make a point that the house edge is higher as an excuse.

You say that all games other than roulette have a 1% house edge, and that is not true, in the home page you can see the house edge for each of the games. The house edge of roulette is not unique to Stake, its the same in all irl casinos that use the single "0" roulette, because its a mathematical consequence of how the table is designed..... If you bet for example at RED colour, there are 18 red numbers and 18 black numbers, and you are paid 2X of your bet amount, BUT there is 1/37 chance that the "0" will hit, and 1/37 is 2.7%, its the house edge.
barbaris Posted April 17, 2019 #4 Posted April 17, 2019 Yes, it is true in all casinos, house edge on roulette more than other games. Never interested in this. But @maverick528 explained in detail. Thanks
Kate Posted April 17, 2019 #5 Posted April 17, 2019 Well roulette is one of the most interesting games and it has a house edge of 1% because i guess stake has decided to do so and in real life it feels the same as 1% is.
allisonn Posted April 17, 2019 #6 Posted April 17, 2019 Easy question, because it's exactly the same like in traditional casinos.
wry Posted April 17, 2019 #7 Posted April 17, 2019 As @maverick528 pointed out, the answer is easy: Math. However, there is one option Stake could offer to reduce the house edge at least on even money bets, it's call the en prison rule. The idea is that when you lose an even bet, e.g. black or red, even or odd, 1-18 or 19-36 if a 0 is rolled then your bet is not lost, it's trapped for the next spin and if it "wins" you win your money back. This reduces the house edge on those bets to closer to 1%. I suggested it when they were looking for idea for Roulette, but no luck. Keep in mind, even at 2.7% Stake's Roulette is as good as the best RL casinos, and better than almost any RL casino you are going to find in the USA. SEMPAXs Posted April 18, 2019 #9 Posted April 18, 2019 depending on how many double numbers are on the bet. then the "edge" will change along with the number of figures in the number yours choice.
quartz97 Posted April 18, 2019 #10 Posted April 18, 2019 house Edge is a new concept for a casinoer (included me)
Dan Posted April 18, 2019 #11 Posted April 18, 2019 The topic of house edge for roulette has come up a fair few times, but theres never been a resolution between the owners for actually approving the implementation of it.
Demarkus89 Posted April 18, 2019 #12 Posted April 18, 2019 i think this house edge on roulette is the same in all gambling sites and tried 2-3 sites on roulette all the house edges were almost the same
williamshennie9 Posted April 18, 2019 #13 Posted April 18, 2019 It has to do with the zero being there. If you bet on red or black, and it goes into the zero, you lose either way. 1/37 = 2.7% so that is how the house edge is calculated, if I am correct
