Yetunde77 Posted July 9 #1 Posted July 9 Any underdogs still standing in the 8? ‎Love seeing them fight the giants. ‎That’s World Cup magic. ‎Which team can shock the world next?Â
umbraoreon Posted July 10 #2 Posted July 10 honestly the bracket this year has been brutal for the smaller sides, most of them got picked off already. morocco might still cause some trouble if they hang on, they look solid if not flashy. wouldnt bet on it though.
Kazumarium Posted July 10 #3 Posted July 10 Honestly I think the real magic is when the underdogs are already gone and we just get high quality heavyweight clashes. Morocco is technically sill there but they play such controlled football now it barely feels like a shock anymore.
kazraki990 Posted July 11 #4 Posted July 11 Morocco is still technically an underdog, but their style is so disciplined now it hardly feels like an upset anymore.
umbravi Posted July 11 #6 Posted July 11 Honestly it feels weird calling Morocco underdogs at this point, they've got too much quality and cohesion now. Do you think they even still count as a shock if they knock someone else out?
jadevar Posted July 11 #7 Posted July 11 I still remember watching South Korea take down Italy in 2002, my whole neighborhood lost their minds at the final whistle. That kind of chaos feels harder to find now with how tacticcally prepared everyone is.
Nylrizyl Posted July 11 #8 Posted July 11 I still remember screaming at the TV when Costa Rica somehow held the Netherlands to a nil nil draw in 2014, that whole tournament run was pure madness. Morocco feels almost too polished to be the real shocker now, maybe someone random like Australia can produce one proper chaotic night instead.
wineaytia Posted July 11 #9 Posted July 11 I cashed out a bet on Senegal last time they got grouped, watched them take down Poland in the opener, felt like stealing money.
Raxoria Posted July 11 #10 Posted July 11 honestly i think the real underdogs are gone, the game is too strangled by money now for true chaos to survive deep into a tournament. maybe switzerland could still cause a stir but calling them an underdog feels like a stretch tbh
sophssa Posted July 11 #11 Posted July 11 honestly I think the magic of a true underdog run is still possible, but everyone sleeps on the asian teams too fast. South Korea has that crazy pace and tactical discipline to really rattle a favorite if they click on the day
Ravenarvi98 Posted July 11 #12 Posted July 11 cant get behind the idea that morocco arent underdogs just cause thhey had one good run, they still got half the budget of the big boys. the real magic now is probably hiding with japan, their pressing is so frantic it can break anyone on the right day
vaelora Posted July 11 #13 Posted July 11 japan at +6600 feels like printing money if they can just get past that quarterfinal wall, their preess is suffocating and honestly it makes the giants look so uncomfortable on the ball
frostorvi Posted July 13 #14 Posted July 13 every cycle some team gets tagged as the dark horse by pundits for weeks until it almost becomes a cliche, and by the time the knockouts roll around the genuinely weird result comes from someone no one was even talking about six weeks ago japan looks so drilled it would almost be more surprising if they didnt cause problems for a big side at some point
Lyrawyn Posted July 13 #15 Posted July 13 Japan at those odds feels like a glitch in the system with how they swarm the ball and expose every gap in a slow backline
dosena1 Posted July 13 #16 Posted July 13 People keep listing the same 3 or 4 names as underdogs but the real magic happns when it’s someone completely off the radar, like Costa Rica in 2014 vibes
victorrou Posted July 13 #17 Posted July 13 (edited) Waiting for the France vs Spain match Edited July 13 by victorrou
zyxique Posted July 13 #18 Posted July 13 Japan is everyone’s trendy underdog pick right now, but their constant high press leaves huge gaps when thye face teams with quick wingers who can switch play fast
