Hey everyone!! So what do you think that a player mostly needs to come up profitable when playing Video poker? Is it pure luck or you are actually able to win using your skills? Maybe both? What's your personal opinion?

Pure luck imo, no way a person always get profit playing video poker. I'm pretty sure behind the big win, there is a big loss too.

Its really not luck or skill, but guess there is some skill involved, like knowing how the game works and such, but otherwise its really random, i dont quite get how to play it yet, hence why i most of the time play using the auto bet

In my opinion, this game really needs both. Why ? Luck without skill in holding which card (It's the same as waiting for long red in my opinion). Whereas Skill without luck is wrong, because no matter how good the card you hold but if it hasn't been hockey it will still be red too xD

It is like blackjack for me - there is an element of skill, but luck plays a huge factor in your profits on this game. If it was 100% skill, there would be people who make Stake and other casinos bankrupt xD

Well, true but someone who's more experienced at such games might get more wins than someone who's new or something and bets based on pure luck, right?xD

In most games is luck but if you play a lot you can see that there can be strategy to work and change it all time till you get the circuit of the games.that can make you profit but its not always working. For example on dice if you bet to get 100x  and raise 1% if you lose in some minutes you see your balance raising .But if luck is away from you then you get destroyed

It's actually both, but as all games here, luck is your greatest weapon. Sometimes, when you get way over your head and think you're beating the game, that's usually where you will get eaten. So my advice is to think carefully and pray maybe. Haha

If you think you're winning, maybe that's what stake wants you to think, no matter how good  you are in selecting pairs and such, crappy cards always come and usually in streaks.

please dont tell me you  comparing live poke skills to videopoker... there is no comparison in skill level.. video poker is basically playing 5 card draw.. but only difference is you not playing against a person or a computer.. is what hand you got after the exchange.. pair of jacks or higher.. there is not skill; involved with it. probably how you might bet to see if a different outcome from the size of bet you make... betting high probably gives you a better chance to ht the higher hand.. or vise versa.. there shouldn't be any skills at all playing video poker.. just hoping you get a high hand.. but live poker.. is all skill on betting.. bluffing.. reading the table or reading the other players hand... and also the type of poker is being played.. 5 card draw if you can't cover the bet.. thats auto lay down.. unlike hold em you can say all in without laying down your hand.. what ever is left considered side pot. video poker had an A.I playing against you,, or a multie hand option probably you can put your live skills into play..

To a certain extend, yes. But since you are at the mercy of the cards, there is not much the world's best video poker or blackjack player can do if they are dealt a bad hand. That's where the element of luck comes into play.

It’s a combination of both, definitely require decent skills first, which is just reading up on the optimal strategy to play - in this case on 22-60 Jack’s or Better.

Next step is to then have the raw luck to have your Royals hit instead of being so damn far apart so your bankroll doesn’t drain dry, resulting in a hit on Royal at 100 satoshis etc...
