wry Posted May 27, 2019 #1 Posted May 27, 2019 One of the most dreaded things in crypto currency land is the idea of a 51% attack - the idea that a single actor or consortium of actors gets enough hashing power to control the network. They can't take your coins, but they could double spend them by sending them and then later redoing a different chain. In the past only weak alt coins with limited hashing power have been hit like: So, no big deal, no one uses Ethereum Classic that much anyway. However, over the weekend news surfaced of a 51% attack on Bitcoin Cash (BCH), a coin that Stake accepts. It was done by two mining pools cooperating and undoing a rival chain. While it was supposedly for a good purpose, the fact that it was done should be of at least some concern to anyone who accepts BCH. Up until now, I've been a big BCH fan, lower fees and always in the next block, but this has given me pause. Lest everyone who uses Bitcoin think they are totally safe, the article says that the top 3 Bitcoin mining pools control enough hash power to do the same thing to Bitcoin. Hmm... so much for decentralization. Link: https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-cash-miners-undo-attackers-transactions-with-51-attack
allisonn Posted May 27, 2019 #2 Posted May 27, 2019 No real good guys in BCH. Just bad guys trying to cheat other bad guys.

rajamishra Posted May 27, 2019 #4 Posted May 27, 2019 hello wryy nice to share a news about BCH ,i am also like so much bch for their faster with low transaction fee.but after read this article i also little bit worried , it's also happen to other coins may be future.hope before any disaster occured may be developers are done something for it.
williamshennie9 Posted May 27, 2019 #5 Posted May 27, 2019 Reading this just makes me worry. I mean, I'm sure it can't be easy to hack a chain, but if hackers do manage to control most of it, it could strike complete disaster. Thank goodness we are all safe this time
barbaris Posted May 27, 2019 #6 Posted May 27, 2019 Where the smell of money will always be bad guys and unfortunately this does not change. But let's hope that this does not happen with Bitcoin.
sdsdfbsfsd Posted May 27, 2019 #7 Posted May 27, 2019 omg lol read the title way too fast thoughthe attck was on bitcoin ohwell, bch may fall ,but bitcoin will live lonfg and prosper:)
yololife222 Posted May 27, 2019 #8 Posted May 27, 2019 Damn whats next ltc then doge and then our favorite one btc? Why would they do that do they get any thing from it?
cointikka Posted May 27, 2019 #9 Posted May 27, 2019 I never liked BCH nor will in the future. The idea of replacing Bitcoin and trying to manipulate the market makes me angry. Already the community of BCH is unhappy with the activities that happened after halving, now this news will make them more uncertain about the future of BCH. If they want they can now still move back to Bitcoin.
mrnice23 Posted May 27, 2019 #10 Posted May 27, 2019 I really like BCH , and that makes me worried about the future of crypto currencies in general....
Babagucci Posted May 27, 2019 #11 Posted May 27, 2019 That incident just shows how centralized bitcoin cash is unfortunately, with two mining entities controlling more than half the blockchain. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the same company as well seeing how they have the same names.
Kate Posted May 30, 2019 #12 Posted May 30, 2019 I have never been a fan of Bitcoin cash at all since the beginning because i believed it was another bitconnect copy something like that and after seeing this i am more than happy to not even accept that coin for anything in my business.

Let's learn together shall we @Shaniqua .
Shiest Posted June 3, 2019 #16 Posted June 3, 2019 is it true that BCH follows the rise and fall of BTC. In other words when BTC increases so does BCH and when BTC decreases so does BCH....
