Asscorn Posted June 8, 2019 #1 Posted June 8, 2019 Was just thinking of something I could post that might get a laugh out of players or just be interesting to know how others think or explain how someone is winning or losing. Problem is, I'm not that interesting or funny. So I thought why not ask for everyone's help. What are some terms you have used or heard used to describe someones luck or lack of?
Kate Posted June 8, 2019 #2 Posted June 8, 2019 Unlucky or bad luck or he isn't doing well or he has bad luck on his side there are a lot but still dont understand what do you mean because he first para is different from the second and third one.
artizykristy Posted June 8, 2019 #3 Posted June 8, 2019 maybe today your luck and tomorrow is a very dark day like a nightmare. so don't forget we don't always have luck

If I win big today, I should not go out tomorrow because I may be unlucky.
Etude Posted June 8, 2019 #5 Posted June 8, 2019 Interesting title to start off a topic about phrases to define a gambler's current state. I think on chat mostly the expressions exchanged are pretty straightforward.
CntryBoy Posted June 8, 2019 #6 Posted June 8, 2019 Hahaha... interesting title to say the least! I could use a couple as well lately, hoping it will turn around soon.

Those phrases are used by the beggars for sure lol because they don't play they just put these phrases in the chat for no reason at all even if they bust or not bust
williamshennie9 Posted June 9, 2019 #9 Posted June 9, 2019 Talking about luck in the chat has become associated with beggars constantly saying "no luck", "sad day", or "good luck everyone". I would suggest staying away from those terms, because people might start associating you for being a beggar.
Burgerwcheese Posted June 10, 2019 #10 Posted June 10, 2019 It’s tempting to sort games into separate boxes marked “luck” and “skill.” Roulette, often an example of pure luck, might go into one. Chess, a game many believe relies only on skill, might go in the other. But it isn’t this simple. To start with, processes we think are as good as random are usually far from it. Despite its popular image as the epitome of randomness, roulette was first beaten with statistics, and then with physics. Other games have fallen to the scientific method, too. Card counters have made blackjack profitable, and syndicates have turned lotteries into investments. Moreover, games that we assume rely solely on skill do not. Take chess. There’s no inherent randomness in a game of chess: If two players make identical moves every time, the result will always be the same. But luck still plays a role. Because the optimal strategy isn’t known, there’s a chance a series of random moves could defeat even the best player.Unfortunately, when it comes to making decisions, we sometimes take a rather one-sided view of chance. If our choices do well, we put it down to skill; if they fail, it’s bad luck. External sources can also skew our notion of skill. Newspapers print stories about entrepreneurs who hit a trend and make millions, or celebrities who suddenly become household names. We hear tales of new writers who pen instant best-sellers and bands that become famous overnight. We see success and wonder why those people are so special. But what if they’re not? The line between luck and skill — and between gambling and investing — is rarely as clear as we think. Lotteries should be textbook examples of gambling, but after several weeks of rollovers, they can produce a positive expected payoff: Buy up all the combinations of numbers, and we’ll make a profit. Sometimes the crossover happens the other way, with investments being more like wagers. Take Premium Bonds, a popular form of investment in the United Kingdom. Rather than receiving a fixed interest rate as with regular bonds, investors in Premium Bonds are entered into a monthly prize draw. The top prize is 1 million pounds, tax-free, and there are smaller prizes, too. By investing in Premium Bonds, people are, in effect, gambling the interest they would have otherwise earned. If they instead put their savings in a regular bond, withdrew the interest and used that money to buy rollover lottery tickets, the expected payoff wouldn’t be that different. If we want to separate luck and skill in a given situation, we must first find a way to measure them. But sometimes an outcome is sensitive to small changes, with seemingly innocuous decisions completely altering the result. It’s easy to think up explanations for observed results. Given a statement that seems intuitive, we can convince ourselves why that should be the case, and why we shouldn’t be surprised at the result. This can be a problem when making predictions. By creating an explanation, we’re assuming that one process has directly caused another.

sheenazbay Posted June 10, 2019 #13 Posted June 10, 2019 Failure is a delayed victory, don't give up because giving up means no victory.
barbaris Posted June 10, 2019 #14 Posted June 10, 2019 The terms luck is pfff i am recover. And failures I use so many obscene expressions that I even feel ashamed to write them. Luck is like an unfaithful wife. When you are fine, she is with you, when you feel bad she goes to another.
