Burgerwcheese Posted June 17, 2019 #1 Posted June 17, 2019 A casino’s aim is get as much money out of a player as possible while still providing a player with reasonable enough odds to keep him/her playing. It is for this reason that casinos do their level best to ensure all their games are fast paced. This not only gets players adrenaline pumping but it increases the house edge. Where many players go wrong is in choosing the strategy. Betting systems, for example, are more likely to lose a player tons more money than the player initially set out to lose than to increase a player’s chances of winning. But that certainly doesn’t stop players. These strategies are a waste of time and of do more harm than good. Players who are looking for an effective strategy that will give the player more control over his/her game often overlook how crucial something like playing speed is. Using speed as a gambling strategy is probably one of the least well known but most effective gambling strategies out there. And few players know it. The faster one plays the more one spends in a shorter space of time. This generally minimizes a player’s bankroll forcing the player to deposit more money than s/he would have to if the game was played at a slower pace. The ability to control the speed at which one plays is the ability to control how one’s bankroll will be used. This is one the most crucial factors when it comes to effective bankroll management and thus remains one of the most sensible casino strategies out there. Most players who are looking to be clever about gambling strategy focus on the house edge of different games. They will compare them and generally will stick with games that have the lowest house edge. But this is flawed thinking. It’s flawed to think that just because the house edge of a game is low it’s the most advantageous for a player to play that game. Instead of focusing on house edge, it’s important that players consider things such as the number of spins a player is able to make in a specified period of time. Other essential factors to consider include how many bets or decisions the player is able to make per hour. Ideally, a player wants to choose games where the player makes as few bets, decisions or spins per hour. These are the games where the player has the best chance of winning due to the slow pace of the game. Casinos, both online and real world, are aware of how powerful the speed at which games are played is. It’s for this reason that casino do their best to ensure games are played at the fasted pace possible.
polor12 Posted June 17, 2019 #2 Posted June 17, 2019 when comparing real life and online casinos.. what games are you talking about.. from slots and games we play at stake..i agree about the pace and so forth. but with table games and live dealers.. fast pace isn't a factor. especially in poker. time is the essence of the game.. providing ,mental games people use on one another.. milking time to decide to bet or not. can throw off the next player and so forth.. and with those house edge.. find out what are the house edges.. the obvious ones are .99 and the full house in Diamond poker. etc..so those percentages under the games means a chance for the house edge to hit??
williamshennie9 Posted June 17, 2019 #3 Posted June 17, 2019 I fully agree with you. The house edge is what the casino can expect to get back if the player plays with perfect strategy. I know this is true for blackjack (since I am a blackjack fan). If you don't play according to basic strategy, the house edge is far more than 0.5%.
Kate Posted June 17, 2019 #4 Posted June 17, 2019 The house edge is how the casino gets back the money because they give some of it for the winners. But in some games the house edge changes a bit slightly.

That's why I try to avoid any betting systems because I know they will rather bankrupt me even faster than give any positive win Quote The ability to control the speed at which one plays is the ability to control how one’s bankroll will be used. This is one the most crucial factors when it comes to effective bankroll management and thus remains one of the most sensible casino strategies out there. Thanks for this advice but it's really hard to play slow especially when you are not winning, so you try to play faster to hunt for the winning bet but eventually you loose all. And on the other hand when you are winning you play faster as well because you want to chase that winnings again because you think if you already won then you don't want to resign or slow down but keep going Quote Most players who are looking to be clever about gambling strategy focus on the house edge of different games. It’s flawed to think that just because the house edge of a game is low it’s the most advantageous for a player to play that game. Well I remember when they lower the edge of one game when there was challenge and with lower edge it was so easy to win. I think it was 0.5%. I went from 20 000 Ethoshi to 0.9 ETH
CntryBoy Posted June 17, 2019 #6 Posted June 17, 2019 I agree completely that the house edge can fluctuate a bit, based on the strategy you are using at any given time. Playing a perfect (or close to it) strategy on most the games will help minimize the house edge. However, playing aggressively or taking more high risk chances I think will make the house edge higher, simply because the chance of losing is greater than when playing more safely.
Sped Posted June 17, 2019 #7 Posted June 17, 2019 A casinos main objective is to make money, that is what they are made to do. Eddie and his creators of stake admit this, and it's obvious it is a business and here to make money, so of course you are going to lose 99% more of the time you win, it's just the math behind it. However, I do think that online casinos have better payouts than real life casinos in my experience.
ivan19911991 Posted June 17, 2019 #8 Posted June 17, 2019 Actually theres a slight difference with playing with a low house edge. We cant feel it but it really helps specially in long run play. Another thing, The great thing about the house edge (from a player's point of view) is that it can be used as a guide to tell you which games are the most profitable. Games with a high house edge will obviously pay out less on average over time compared to those that have a house edge that's lower. So using this information - which is readily available - you can avoid getting stung by games that give the casino a massive advantage over the player.

I’ve come across this train of thought and it is true that we generally would want to minimise our bets per hour so as to lose a smaller amount to the house edge. However, if you’re playing at minuscule amounts then that doesn’t really matter right? I would also assume that most players don’t make enough bets to let the house edge affect overall losses. Game variance (and believe me, Stake has some insane variance settings :P) accounts for a huge part of why players tend to lose in any given session as well - sigh it seems like all the odds are stacked against us. P.S. I’m thankful for speed settings on most games though - going through the animation literally kills the vibe sometimes! Stake’s Dice is honestly a turtle.
Etude Posted June 18, 2019 #11 Posted June 18, 2019 This seems like a legit sound writeup there Burger. It does make sense with the explaination on how increased pacing of the game affects the house edge.
bender123 Posted June 18, 2019 #12 Posted June 18, 2019 With this game, I really learned what fun and racing
