yechin Posted July 11 #1 Posted July 11 With the 2026 midterms and a bunch of global elections happening this year, the politics tab on Stake is seeing massive volume. Honestly, the odds swings on these debates and polling updates are crazier than live Esports. Is anyone in here actually treating the politics markets like a serious betting angle, or is it just degenerate entertainment for when the sports schedule is completely dead? Let me know who you are holding futures on.
Wickique Posted July 11 #2 Posted July 11 I actually grabbed DeSantis at +1200 for the general a while back before that first debate tanked his odds, managed to cash out with a small profit when he got a bump after Iowa. Politics swings way harder than tennis sometimes, I just wish the liquidity was deeper on those niche prop bets.
synly6 Posted July 11 #3 Posted July 11 I think a lot of people jump into politics futures chasing the hype but have zero exit strategy, while just waiting for the actual vote count on a single election night seems way sharper if you really trust your read on the polls.
gauzeirique1 Posted July 11 #4 Posted July 11 Man, I saw someone on twitter cashing out a parlay on the french election like it was a ufc main event, the volume really is no joke. Are you playing mostly US markets or have you touched any of the smaller european ones yet?
krxenne Posted July 11 #5 Posted July 11 I rode the weird spike on the Australian senate race last year just off betting markets reacting to a misrepoted poll, made a quick flip before the correction. Feels like the edge is mostly in fading the initial overreaction right after a debate clip goes viral.
lyraanver Posted July 11 #6 Posted July 11 honestly i treat it more like entertainment than an actual edge but the liquidity during debates is wild, you can get decent fills if youre fast. are you only sticking with US markets or dipping into those weird european runoff bets too?
Ryxmia Posted July 11 #7 Posted July 11 Are you finding better value in the outright winner markets or do you stick mostly to the prop bets like debate performance and voter trunout numbers?
Wickkani1 Posted July 12 #8 Posted July 12 I actually think the volatility is the whole appeal because you can scalp small edges just by paying attention to how slow the traditional polling analysis really is. Got burned on a Brazilian runoff bet last cycle thinking the incumbent had it locked, and the line moved against me like 10 points in 90 minutes after some random endorsements dropped.
