Video Poker Payouts

Hey Stakers.

I have a question for you all. I have only played Video Poker for roll hunts. But I believe that there should be either higher Payouts or have the cards easier to pull. It took on average combined 500-2000 bets to hit even just a straight flush more than once. I believe the payouts aren't calculated enough to the time and cards that come out.

If someone could come up with a good new payout scale or how they should change it let me know.

Hey guys I am new to Stake. Thank you for reading one of my forum posts. Come chat with me on Stake and lets be friends. I need new people to talk to and give me feedback so comment below. :)

Yes I thought of this too first when I was here. This was the first place where I had played video poker. If you google video poker payouts, its almost always the same or very similar. The site can alter it a bit to alter their house edge and I believe they have over the period of time, if I'm not wrong.

Anyways the reason why the payouts aren't so high is because of the possibilities of hitting other lower ranked hands, which still give you profit. For example lower hands like 2 pair and 3 of a kind which happen pretty often. So imagine having increased the straights, flushes a bit too and the straight flushes much more, the game would be broken since you will most likely profit in the long run.

That is why a royal flush is only an 800x which has a very very low probability of hitting from most hands. So the answer in short is - it's all to account for the house edge! :)

This sums up the payout structure here very well for Video Poker.  For the most part, these payouts here at Stake are pretty standard across the board wherever you look, or very close.  The only exception as far as I can tell is that in most places I can remember, a Royal Flush generally pays 1000x, as opposed to the 800x that Stake pays...

This is a great explanation of why Video Poker is the way it is. It's to keep players from breaking the bank of the casino and winnings more then the EV would allow.

However, I have wished the payouts were higher in Video Poker until I got better at choosing my cards to deal and ended up with 3 800x in less then 500 games.

This is the only game with cards in Stake that you are gambling against only one deck of cards, that is why.  Odds for winning are big than in any other game so payouts are shorter.   This game is the one I like the most.  Good luck.

Remember that the payouts are deliberately lowered to give the casino a house edge of 1%. You just got super unlucky with your situation. You know you can hold cards right? A lot of people surprisingly don't know that.

Right, the house edge has to be taken into account when looking at the adjusted odds.  I never thought about the possibility of people not understanding that they were able to hold cards... why would someone gamble on a game that they do not know the rules for? lol

I think it is pretty much the same across the board no matter where you play.    These payouts seem fair to me.    But I don’t often play video poker so maybe i am wrong.

It actually is considered quite a decent Jack’s or Better Paytable compared to some of the other variations out there ...

The only problem with the current 6/9 Paytable is having 22/60 vs. 25/50 for the 4oaK/Straight Flushes as I don’t get that many SF(s) and would prefer a higher payout on the 4oak(s) at least.

Ive seen some machines offer only 200x for Royals if you don’t play at 5 coin values so this right here is good enough!

Thats why I propose short video poker sessions. If you are lucky you can win and if not you can come back after trying other games. Makes life more easier.

You should know that there is a house edge in every casino. House edge is the average casino profit from a gambler's bet. For example, in a video poker game, the house edge is "only about" 1%, meaning that the average casino will get $ 1 as casino profits, and will pay the remaining $ 99 to the winners for every $ 100 wagered. It seems like this is a good advantage for players

I dont really know what the odds are for these multipliers, but they are all normal except that royal flush one. I've done more than 40k rolls on video poker and never had a royal flush, I guess it needs a rework or something.

Hey man, yeah I think multipliers are not fair for us but I have no chance to calculate this ,

I think if they wrote that is has 1% edge that means odds should be pretty well calculated

but I feels like it is impossible to hit something good, I just hit some full houses or once 4 of a kind is my best

but it was only once and like in more than 1000 bets

but anyways good luck in hitting something nice

and play responsible bois ;)
