Dara123simi Posted July 14 #1 Posted July 14 Blackjack is one of the best games to play if you want to keep the house edge as low as possible, but you need a solid game plan. I wanted to share a few fundamental basic strategy rules that every beginner should keep in mind to stop giving away easy chips: Always Split Aces & 8s: A pair of 8s leaves you with a weak 16, which is one of the worst hands in the game. Splitting them gives you two fresh chances. Aces should always be split for a shot at hitting 21. Never Split 10s or 5s: A pair of 10s is already a strong 20—don't ruin a great hand! For a pair of 5s, treat it as a hard 10 and look to hit or double down depending on what the dealer shows. Double Down on 10 or 11: When your starting cards total 10 or 11, and the dealer shows a weak upcard (like a 2 through 6), it’s the perfect time to double your bet to maximize your payout. Pay Attention to the Dealer's Upcard: If the dealer shows a weak card (2 through 6), they have a high chance of busting. If you have a marginal hand like 12 to 16, it's often safer to stand and let the dealer take the risk. Skip Insurance: It might look tempting when the dealer shows an Ace, but statistically, insurance is a losing side bet over time that drastically increases the house edge.
