Dan Posted November 21, 2017 #1 Posted November 21, 2017 Quote $30,950,010 USDT was removed from the Tether Treasury wallet on November 19, 2017 and sent to an unauthorized bitcoin address. As Tether is the issuer of the USDT managed asset, we will not redeem any of the stolen tokens, and we are in the process of attempting token recovery to prevent them from entering the broader ecosystem. The attacker is holding funds in the following address: 16tg2RJuEPtZooy18Wxn2me2RhUdC94N7r. If you receive any USDT tokens from the above address, or from any downstream address that receives these tokens, do not accept them, as they have been flagged and will not be redeemable by Tether for USD. This is insane! Tether is the leading blockchain solution for maintaining a stable currency which can be used for trading. It has been adopted by pretty much all the big exchanges as a way to trade crypto between fiat. They have had to completely lock down their wallets and trading platform to try and recover the stolen funds. Source: https://tether.to/tether-critical-announcement/
David Jones Posted November 21, 2017 #2 Posted November 21, 2017 That is really a bad news in the world of Crypto Currencies....
remember Posted November 21, 2017 #3 Posted November 21, 2017 It may take a long time to resolve. Hope everything will be resolved well
Kargai Posted November 21, 2017 #4 Posted November 21, 2017 Totally crazy indeed. But let's hope it will serve as an alarm bell for others, if everyone re-check their own security maybe it will prevent some other potential breaches for others.
barbaris Posted November 21, 2017 #5 Posted November 21, 2017 Sad news. Security is the main thing in business.
