allisonn Posted August 12, 2019 #1 Posted August 12, 2019 HD wallets nowadays for bitcoin have the capability of generating literally infinity btc addresses from a single seed. I hope to see this implemented on Stake/PD in the future as it increases security for every user. We all know that reusing addresses makes both parties vulnerable to chain analysis. Whenever I want to deposit into stake, regardless of how many steps I take to obscure the source of my BTC, I have no choice but to deposit to that one singular address which is a huge info trap for anybody wanting to know how much I deposited, where it came from, where it went etc. A good example is our friends who use Coinbase and other exchanges who run KYC and will actively suspend accounts for depositing into crypto sites. While we may not be able to 100% defeat advanced chain analysis, doing nothing about it or even making it easier for them is another thing entirely. A simple [Generate new deposit address] button would solve all these problems. The funds stay in the same wallet and old addresses can still be reused so no deposits will be lost.

wngo123 Posted September 18, 2019 #3 Posted September 18, 2019 Please consider to add unlimited address for coins so we can generate new addresses by simple click when we withdraw/deposit. This would make things more secure.
SammyA123 Posted September 30, 2019 #4 Posted September 30, 2019 I know two people who had accounts closed on coinbase for sending funds to/from coinbase from gambling sites. They did allow the people to withdraw their coin prior to shutting down the account. I do second the OP, that we should be able to generate new addresses for deposits. Think its a great idea!
Community Manager Stake Staff Posted September 30, 2019 Community Manager #5 Posted September 30, 2019 Heya, wngo Thank you for your suggestion! While we are aware that this has been given as an option on some gambling sites, we tend to not change the addys except in the case of utmost emergency or huge update, when some major fork occurs or so. Flexible deposit address can create many inconveniences for users, since they would be confused if they used the proper one, they might make a deposit to the wrong/previous one, etc. We have encountered this problems and solving them is a long and arduous process most of the times. The best security for any worry you might have in this regard is never to share your deposit addys with anyone, just keep it for yourself, and that guarantees your safety. Wish you the best of luck! 🍀 ************************************************ Since yours and @wngo123's topic are similar, I merged them now
