wry Posted September 29, 2019 #1 Posted September 29, 2019 The big advantage of Bitcoin is of course the fact that it is a censorship resistant network. The USA, for example, can't shut it down. As such, it is a great network for nations that raise the ire of the USA to use. Exhibit number 1 would have to be Iran. Under very restrictive sanctions from the USA and many other countries and with a relatively sophisticated population, it would seem a great place for crypto. But it seems the Iranian government just can't get out of the way. Iran claims it wants to support crypto and mining by licensing it, but wont issue any licenses and is cracking down on those who are mining without a license, that of course, hasn't been issued yet. They have confiscated 80,000 mining rigs in the last four months. Do they think the government can then use them or something? While this could just be a power struggle in the Iranian government, I think it's a classic case of a government just not thinking things through clearly. Here's a path to make everyday citizens in Iran better off, and the government is impeding it. It will even help the government as a robust economic system will help it as well. Anyone in Iran or know anyone there? What is the view from the street? Link: https://www.coindesk.com/iranian-bitcoiners-risk-fines-jail-time-as-government-regulates-mining
iamsheikhadil Posted October 1, 2019 #2 Posted October 1, 2019 I think the government of Iran secretly is adopting and using bitcoins. Every government would want to use this valuable technology as this is the future. US or any other country can't stop it. Its use is inevitable! Hence, I hope Iran uses it for their development, specially the blockchain technology.
