Facebook Pay! Will Facebook Kill Libra?

In pretty big news today Facebook announced Facebook Pay.  This is a very different initiative than their Libra project that caused such concern over it's crypto currency roots.  Rather this looks like a straight forward payments system on the lines of Alipay, Wechat pay, Google Pay and Apple Pay.  It's unclear to me what it's appeal is going to be to merchants since it is built upon US credit cards and Paypal.

I think it was taking a long time for this to be implemented, as many people trade various products and services directly on facebook, and this can make things easier.
