I would like to ask you guys. Is mining using Personal Computer at home is still profitable? Anyone still mining using his/her PC as of this time?

I don't think it is profitable unless you have a good hashing power. It is advisable to mine some Altcoins instead. You can calculate your profit on online calculator. Analyze it to know whether its profitable or not.

Bitcoin mining isn't possible or profitable at all unless you have an ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit). If you want to start into it as hobby, check out Gekkoscience 2PAC USB miner. It is for SHA256 algorithm based coins.

Alternatively you can start mining coins that don't require ASICs using your graphics card (GPU) or CPU. You have to do your own research though on what to mine using your GPU or CPU.

Yes as a newbie in mining I really want to try my computer at home but I am worried that my electricity consumption will hurt me. I will try to find out regarding Gekkoscience. Thanks :)

I believe bitcoin mining is no longer profitable now, especially if you are using low graphic cards. Also don't forget you have to deal with electricity bill as well.

Well it was profitable years ago, you can even get many bitcoins with personal computer with low-mid graphic card (at first).

Instead of mining, why don't you learn to trading? it's 100% more profitable I believe :D But goodluck buddy!

Thank you for that wilberthh. I am still studying and reading more about cryptocurrency to understand it further. I have a lot of friends telling me they earned good in trading and crypto lending.

Whats the hash power you get when mining it depends on some computers. Search in google whattomine a site which helps you to know wjat you should mine :)

You can increase or decrease the number of threads you wanna use or better is mining in coinhive site or There are auto faucets just use blocker and then they pay you the mining bonus amount

Thanks guys.  I think I have to focus on trading instead of mining. Aside from frying my CPU and GPU I might be surprised with my electricity bill later.

Bitcoin mining with the personal computer isn't a thing anymore for at least 2 years. The only way you can mine and make some profit mining is by having a high-end pc. I saw that GTX 1080 Ti is pretty popular nowadays for mining, even so, it doesn't guarantee a big profit. You will surely need an ASIC.

But if you try mining altcoins, you can make some profit. There are a few coins that over time will bring you success. I'm using minergate to mine and it works nice, I do have profit (very small, counting the electricity bill, but it is a profit overall). If you do care about your PC, you should never use it at full capacity. Don't mine on all your threads you have, save at least one for it and if you're doing something else, then you'll need at least 2 saved.

I've done some research on this topic myself for long time now and I am sure the only way to be profitable with your PC at home is to invest in a pool mining site (be sure its not a scam)

If I may suggest, if youre eager to mine then mine for ripple and monero or ETN i can guarantee you for a great income in the future @Molits :) because thid coins hashrates and block is attainable right now compared to bitcoin that you still need to spend a thousand bucks just to afford and buy hash power

How much do ASIC's cost? are there different types of ASICs? I've heard the term before but never looked into it.
