Administrator Jarrod Posted March 11, 2020 Administrator #1 Posted March 11, 2020 India vs RSA - ODI PREVIEW - Cblu785 India starts as favourite while proteas will be looking to improve from their last performances against India, where they lost convincingly on their home soil too. For India, Opener Rohit Sharma still struggling with an injury but it's a good opportunity for Prithvi shaw to showcase his talent while opening for India. It will be interesting to see whether Virat Kohli goes with the wrist spinning pair of Kuldeep Yadav & Yuzvendra Chahal; both of them played a vital role in the dominating series win over South Africa in 2019, but it does make batting look a bit weaker while opting for five bowlers. India can find a solution of this in Hardik Pandya who is making his comeback from a back injury. While Hardik Pandya was supposed to be back in action from a back injury during India A's tour of New Zealand last year. That didn't come to pass. Then, Pandya was supposed to return for the senior side's tour of New Zealand. That didn't come to pass either. However, the all-rounder has now proven his fitness and form in the DY Patil T20 tournament, rattling off scores of 46, 105, 38 and 158*. Where first hundred had come off 37 balls and the second off 39 balls. His presence will definitely give India a bit more balance! India squad Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli (C), KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill. -------------------- Whereas for South Africa, batting mainstays Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen have been recalled to the South Africa ODI squad. Left-arm spinner George Linde has also been named for the first time in the 15-man squad in place of first-choice spinner Tabraiz Shamsi, who is awaiting the birth of his child. The 28-year-old has so far played just a solitary Test for South Africa which came in India last year. Du Plessis hasn't played for South Africa in the 50-over format since the World Cup and was rested for the home series against England and Australia. During this period, he also quit captaincy handing over the reigns to Quinton de Kock. Van der Dussen, who cemented his spot in the middle order last year, featured in the ODIs against England but has been rested for the series against Australia. In the absence of these two batsmen, Heinrich Klaasen registered his first ODI century and debutant Kyle Verreynne made a vital contribution in their side's impressive win over Australia in the first ODI. Both the batsmen have retained their spots and so have Keshav Maharaj and Lutho Sipamla. Surprisingly Janneman Malan, who made his debut on Saturday (February 29) at Paarl & played some good cricket has been dropped from the squad. South Africa squad Quinton de Kock (C & WK), Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen, Faf du Plessis, Kyle Verreynne, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Jon-Jon Smuts, Andile Phehlukwayo, Lundi Ngidi, Lutho Sipamla, Beuran Hendricks, Anrich Nortje, George Linde, Keshav Maharaj My prediction Highest Opening Partnership - South Africa South Africa Top Bowler - - Lungi Ngidi South Africa Top Batsmen - - Quinton de Kock India Top Bowler - Kuldeep Yadav India Top Batsmen - Virat Kohli If South Africa bat first(score) - under 280 If India bat first (score) - 315 + Team to win the match - it's really tough to beat India in India, so definitely I am going with India to win this match!
