Should you buy Garrys Mod?

Hey guys.

I've been a big player of G-mod (Garrys Mod) as I have over 2,000 hours. 

If you're not familier with the game I'll be showing some pictures of it. 

Brief explanation of the game is that it uses entities, maps and creativity of the players to create many things. 

It involves game from death run to hide and seek. If youre a player of GTA V, Minecraft, Roblox, CSGO, Call of Duty than you will like this game. 

The game is bit old but it runs smoothly as it uses the same graphics as CSGO. 

The other issue is that some textures or parts of the maps are absent.This means that when you download (for example) a map, even though it may have (for example) HL2 Episode 2 textures/models, you are still able to see them properly without the game installed because you have downloaded them with the map. Some addon/level creators have even used custom textures and models that you will not find in any other game. 

Note that most maps do not use this method, as it increases file size and (possibly) decrease optimization of the map, making it run slower. 

From my browsing of the workshop, I have found that usually maps require Counter Strike: Source or Half Life 2: Episode 2.

If you don't have those games downloaded or their textures you'll be missing textures and those textures will be showed as purple and black. 

The other games are not required to download a map/addon, and upon joining a server with a map with these things that you do not have installed, you will still continue to download the map, however errors will still arise (and you may get script errors, but these usually aren't anything to worry about).

Overall It's a good game that I have enjoyed for many hours with many friends. I suggest you guys have a look at it on youtube with famous youtubers such as VanosGamign.

ive never played garrys mod but i have wanted to in the past. and now knowing about the textures being absent if not having that game downloaded, makes not want to purchase it anymore because i only have 1 of the three games. and i really dont want to purchase 2 more just for the use of 1. does seem like a cool game thought. but thanks for this post! its very informative. so glad you said something about the textures!

Wow, seems like its a fun game, thanks for this. i will download it, hope its not that big file size like 2-4 gig?

on steam is recommends 5gigs so yea im sure it around 2 or 3. but you wont be able to save too much if thats all the room you got extra lol

I know other games like Goat Simulator (I know thats so goddamn funny)

There u can be a goat and freaking live the life of a goat. I mean what is more exciting?
